This used to happen to me when I overclocked too much..
I think what I did was find a stable copy of windows and copy its ntldr file onto a floppy and then replace the one on the broken xp install.
hope that helps!
Tried recovery console & fixmbr yet?
alright mate, i've had this problems a few times. First thing to check is going into bios and make sure that your bios has got the right hdd selected as it's highest priority boot drive, it's happened to me before where the pc crashed and when it restarted my bios had chaged its drive priority settings for some reason.
Another time i had it was on my parents pc, everything was all ok on the bios front, so i found out some details on the ntldr problem and ended up connecting up my parents hdd to my mobo, searching my pc for both ntldr and ntdetect. copying both of them and replacing the corrupt ones on my parents pc with my working ones and that solved it.
Hope this helps.
