Got myself a 4GB Microdrive, hoping to use it with my HX4700 but when I put it in my PDA, it comes up with unknown device and asks for a driver name.
Does anyone have or know where I can get a driver for it to work?
Thanks
that, shouldnt happen... iit should look like a normal CF card.....
There was a similar problem with my PDA (Palm OS based however). Before cards of capacities greater than 2GB were recognised, the firmware had to be upgraded. Beneath 3GB the cards operated under vfat, but above this they have to operate under vfat32.
But I would still recommend asking the guys at HP before using 3rd party cracks!
Your HX4700 may well have a problem with cards over 2gig. FAT16 can only handle partitions up to 2gig. Over this you would need to use another file system, probably FAT32. However there are a good number of devices (actually, probably most of them) that don't recognise FAT32. i guess some devices may have support for multiple partitions on the one card, but that is also doubtful
yeah that would explain it. I know when these drives first came out it was cheaper to buy a Creative Muvo (i think that was the name) and a small flash card and swap the two, than it was to buy the Microdrive on its own.
Actually this is probably still the case.
EDIT: actually last time i looked, the flash cards were actually cheaper per gig than the Microdrives on eBay anyway.
