1. Computer is booting from a non-bootable source.
2. Computer hard disk drive is not properly setup in BIOS.
3. Corrupt NTLDR and/or NTDETECT.COM file.
4. Misconfiguration with the boot.ini file.
5. Attempting to upgrade from a Windows 95, 98, or ME computer that is using FAT32.
6. New hard disk drive being added.
7. Corrupt boot sector / master boot record.
8. Seriously corrupted version of Windows 2000 or Windows XP.
9. Loose or Faulty IDE/EIDE hard disk drive cable.
Have you got another disk to try?

Have you set the BIOS to boot from CD?
yeh, go into bios and chnage the boot settings so it boots from the CD drive first

well if u then put ur windows CD in then it shud ask u to install windows on it.

As you can see from the screenshot, it is set to boot from cd, and it prompts him to press a key as usual.
Is this an original disc jack?
(I'm not insinuating you pirated a copy, but may have backed up your original install cd, slipstreamed one...etc etc )

Incidentally, how did you format your drive jack?
i had the exact same problem bout a week ago, so i wiped my drive in another PC and then installed windows onto it in mine. worked fine, maybe u shud give that a go if u can.

Do you have more than one hd installed
And you definitely pressed the 'any' key in time?
I'd go with the CD being non bootable )
