Ran smooth...now it runs like crap. Temps have gone up to 56 under load (in bios) and it says i'm 49 using speedfan...which is confusing. Could my CPU be throttling or something? It's starting to annoy me now! I updated to 6.5 cats when and first noticed it, but have since swapped back to 6.4.

robert try something like omega 5.11 from www.omegadrivers.net. I got the same cpu at 2.6 i will run source now and check my load temp.

the other day being in the last weeek or 2? Cause updates have been out since then. Try adaware scans, use the microsoft one adaware and spybot as they all pick up different things. U fiddled around with ur pc in anyway(not sexually) but like put new ram in or moved ur pc>?

nope, nothing.........................as i said - moved to cat 6.5's the other day and noticed it. I use driver cleaner etc and install things properly...gah!

Well idle my X1800XT is 59 deg C....

It's really weird. I'll be playing fine and get into a battle (where it used to be fine) and it goes very choppy.

It's still happening. When I get into a big fire fight my FPS dive. Even when I lower everything to medium, but keep my res @ 1680*1050.

Robert, I can't help your specific problem I'm afraid, but if it does make you feel any better, I've been having similar problems as of late.
I run @ 1680x1050, Everything maxed out (HDR on, Full AA and AF) and in the past it's been fine with 1 7800GTX.
Past few weeks though....the game's been running like an absolute dog.
No matter what I do, HDR off, AA and AF right down, it still insists on giving me a rapidfire slideshow.

I'm wondering whether it's a Valve update, as I haven't been tinkering .

Same here. I just don't get it. Two weeks ago I was running:

6* AA
8* AF
Shadows off
HDR off
Everything else high
Water reflect world

Now I have AA off, AF off and it's still poor!

its the updates mate, just go check steampowered.com people goiong mad at how there High spec rig is getting dire fps. I personally have got lucky wit hthe updates as they havent affected me much.
Only things i can think off are reinstalling steam/windows/new drivers. Sorry its the classic lame way round everything but it does work sometimes
