Speaker / Sound Problem

As a relatively innocent PC user who knows no technical stuff or jargon-talk, i'm hoping someone can help with a problem with my Creative Inspire P580 speaker system.

We've had them for 2 years (bought with an evesham pc), and the volume keeps dipping and fading. This doesn't always happen but sometimes becomes a real pain, it happens on all music files and types, live streaming, video footage etc etc.

When we test the speakers all seems fine but actually playing music can sometimes be painful!

Anyone have any suggestions on what we can do bearing in mind that I'm nowhere near technically minded?

If the volume keeps mucking up then it sounds as if the speakers are faulty as I can't see Windows messing up like that. What exactly do you mean by testing the speakers?
