    Dodgy Computer

My computer isn't that old but I've had problems since day one. I can be doing something fairly undemanding and programs just decide not to respond. I have plenty of free RAM and my processor rarely runs at 100%. I just don't understand. Its like it isn't distributing its power properly. Could this be my motherboard?

It could be a lot of things to be honest. My advice is start testing components one by one, i would start with your ram.

What spec is your PC? As the other guy said, it could be anything really. Just a matter of trying a few things. Give us your spec first.

Go for the old re-install favourite. A good pristine OS can solve a lot of woes.
Failing that, tidy the registry, kill all un-neccessary apps @ startup, run thorough spyware & antivirus checks & defrag. A tidy OS is a happy OS
If you are running AV, it could be that if it runs scans in the background or checks for updates..

wow! I just looked in my task manager and saw that my processor is in fact running at 100% constantly. the process that is causing this is called SYSTEM (not system idle process, although i wouldnt mind knowing what that is)
