tagan psu problem?? :(

about ten mins ago i crashed out of game (css) and i booted back up and all ws well for an hour or so then same thing, i asked my brother to have a look and he noticed that the voltage where it should be 12v is around 9 and even dips into 8s now this must be the reason? beacuse i recently bought the pc off this forum and i know all the other parts are fine, but i just cant get why its not producing the full volts it still works just goes off when it neweds power like in game? i thought the tagans were very reliable??
help please its quite anoying and i dont know what to do.

Check all of the connections and make sure one of the 4-pin P4s is plugged in.

If not, then the PSU may be faulty. Get in touch with the person you bought it off as Tagans come with a 3 year warranty.

Thats usually a symptom of drawing too much from your PSU, you added any new bits recently?

With 2 posts I don't see how.

As to the problem, it seesm to either be on its way out or overloaded, list the full system specifications including everything so we get a good picture of what you have to advise appropriately.

His brother bought it from me! It was fine when I sold it and did run from a few days on end. Never overclocked either. It is very strange since it is a pretty powerful tagan (480w if I remember rightly) and the parts I had in were not even stressing it. Sorry I can't be of any more help.

going to test with my brothers hiper 580 when he gets back from work will post with outcome. can it be any thing else but the psu?

what u mean? it was a link to the same one on the scan sight yer? well if i have to get another one i will get the hiper because its got some more juice and is about the same price and i know how reliable my bros has been

How are you measuring the voltage on the rails? Is it in BIOS, or through a Windows program? It could be that one of them is reporting it wrongly (to be sure, you really need to use a voltmeter on the cables themselves, but if replacing the PSU improves the stability, it's all pretty irrelevant.

If it is definitely outputting 9V or some such silly value however, you should have a good case for RMA, as tolerances on the Tagans are, I believe +/- 10%...

If you email Nanopoint...www.nanopoint.co.uk , they should be able to sort this out for you I'd imagine.

You might have to provide a receipt...assuming you can help in this respect menthel?
