I appear to be offline

That what comes up on windows live messenger when people see my name in there contacts list. Thing my status is set to online so i dont get it. This happens even when people are on the same network as me.

Any ideas boys/gals?

Uninstall, download latest version, re-install.

Even if you think you have the latest version.

thing is mate, i just signed on with my other account and i appear online, weird....... happened before i formatted also, ive only jsut formatted

you could try going to start>run>control userpasswords2 then deleting the local data on ur machine for ur username?

Sign in on Web Messenger - does that show you as online?

not quite sure where to look stevei, thats a new command for me in run. i havent tried jonny, i might just go bk to messenger 7.5, but tis weird it doesnt happen with my other account

under the advanced tab click "manage passwords" and delete any that are in there. that should delete ur locally stored data for msn, it used to work for me

steve, its a clean format plus there are no passwords in there to delete. This happened before i formatted too but works fine with other accounts that i have, they appear online, just this one doesnt..

he's saying that even when he sets to sign in as "online" it still signs him in as offline.

yeh still no luck, got email back from msn, and they wernt even close to usefull, so im bk to msn 7.5 which is depressing
