    Please Help Conroe System Questions!

Sorry to capitalise the thread title, but I am in the process of building a system with:

    Asus P5W Deluxe
    Conroe 6600
    Seasonic 430
    Corsair 2gig
    Antec P150 case

I think I have installed everything, but when I plug it in, the green led comes on, and then I press the power button, and nothing...not a sausage!

What is the blue thing for? Its with my PSU I think it is for a fan, but I have no idea where, is it necessary? And what about the green and white cable...I think it goes somewhere with the power led etc.

Please help! Failing that...if there is someone in the Eastbourne area that could lend a hand...I would pay you!

    Many thanks

From this link the Blue/Black wire is a Fan RPM monitor wire for monitoring PSU fan operation. You should have a manual for the PSU and motherboard saying about the various connections. The green LED (power led connection) has been connected but check they are all in the right place.

Regarding the green and white cables loose, have you traced these to see where they go? Ensure you have the power button connected up (trace wires to front panel if possible to be sure). If the power button is connected up and not getting anything you may have to unplug all except CPU, power button, psu and power on to eliminate other components.

I had a problem with a newly built PC not powering up and believe a CMOS reset cured my problem but doesn't mean you have the same issue of course but worth noting.

I could do you a swap for my working Athlon 2500XP system of course

Haha, I am upgrading from an Athlon 3000XP, we have similar backgrounds! Unfortunately I don't think this system will be installed and working this evening, so at the moment, your system wins. I have no idea where the green and white cables go, because I have already put in two of them. Oh well. I will try the CMOS idea, as my fans spin but theres no picture! Thanks for your suggestion

I saw this thread which may be something that you are experiencing and could help? I had a problem with the case fans and CPU fan spinning up for a second with power supplied to the mobo without the front switch being on or connected and was left to trying CMOS reset as had tried removing all non essential components but still the same, but could be duff PSU like in other post even?

As for the green/white pair, I have seen this which shows them going to the power or reset area of front case so just swing the panel over and see where they attach.
