WTD: the borrow of a mini-ide to normal ide or usb cabel

    Hi,

I'm looking to borrow within a reasonable distance of bath a cable that will allow mini IDE devices to be connected to standard ide/usb/sata connectors.

Failing that a recommendation of a shop that sells them.

    thanks
    It is Inevitable.....

    Does this help?

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...=28724&T=24228

    But picture is wrong

    Or perhaps

I've used a similar one, and haven't had any problems.

do you mean 2 1/2" to 3 1/2" converter as suggested above, or mini IDE as in the connector on the back of laptop optical drives?

    such as this:

Funkstar - That was the one I did get, but couldn't find a link.

I've used the same one to connect a laptop optical drive to a PC.

Out of stock at the moment, but I've got one of these myself: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=138544 and it's frankly a God-send. It's in use right now actually, rescuing files from a dead Maxtor that someones brought in. BIOS doesn't recognise the drive anymore, but this thing just doesn't know when to quit.

Comes with a laptop (2.5") coverter too.
