    AGGHHH need help please

hi i badly need some help, i brought a conroe e6600 and asrock 775dual-vista put it altogether and nothing happens, i turn it on and nothing, no beeps just silence, the fan starts spinning and then nothing, the monitor doesnt turn on. I thought perhaps it was the gfx card so i put a 9800pro in it, and changed to it a radeon 7000 and still nothing is happening

It could be a lot of things, do you still have some energy left to strip everything out and put things back together again? Make sure you double check every connections next time and try to run your system as minimum as possible. I have no experience in conroe system so I'm afraid I cannot advice you any further. Good luck.

If you take all of the memory out, does it beep then?

Do any of the hard drives start to spin up / be accessed?

As said, you could try taking out everything that isn't required for boot up - drives, PCI cards, etc.

Are you sure that the motherboard (and its BIOS) are fully compatible with Conroe?

is there a speaker on the mobo or do you need to attach the mobo speaker header to the case to hear the beeps?

looking at a picture of the board there is no speaker, Im just curious though as the board can accept AGP cards and PCI-E cards, is there a switch to switch between agp/pci-e?

Edit: have you checked that you have plugged in the extra 4-pin ATX plug? Some boards will power up if this is plugged in but I have seen a few that wont.

It could be anything but I had the same problem last week when I built my E6600 based system, it turned out I hadn't plugged in the ATX_12V cable that is used to provide extra power to the CPU (I original thought it was needed if the PCIe GCard if required)

didnt notice that at the end, im really ***** *** as this board is promoted as conroe ready and by the looks of it its the bios thats causing me the problem. I dont have any other 775 cpus so if it is the cpu i cant flash it.
i dont think theres any other way either to get into the bios to check ? Grrr

I would perhaps email asrock (im sure they would have a database of which bios's were on the boards they shipped out by your serial number?)
