Label discs with lightscribe in a duplicator

Hey chaps,

As per title, in work we've just bought and set up an 8 drive duplicator all with lightscribe drives because the plan is to label the copied discs using lightscribe.

The question is how do we go about getting the duplicator to send the label to the lightscribe drives?

you need to use software to do it i think you can get version of nero that should be able too but mean you need a pc connected to do it

Yeh Nero with lightscribe support came with each of the drives, but theres no way of connecting the duplicator to a PC, its standalone, theres no mobo/hard disks etc.
I've seen other duplicators that claim to do it, but they don't explain how :-S

Any other ideas?

I found lightscribe to be way way way too slow...

I feel that if you need the power of an 8-way duplicator, the time it takes to write a LS label may be too long for you...


Invariably for me the label took between 5 and 20 times longer to write then the data on the DVD-R...

Interesting, What sort of labels were they? I was under the impression, if we were to just use a very basic label it wouldn't take that long and it looks quite good.

es complexity makes a difference but still i find the most basic design (i.e. a few simple words) take 5-10 minutes......I had a graphic that actually took 40 mins...

This was with an LG drive, maybe others are faster.

i think Lightscribe and labelflash work at single speed as they need much higher power laser to produce the image (that is my understanding anyway). If you have detail all the way out to the edge of the disk, it will be exactly the same a writing 4.34gig of data at 1x.

nero can handle multiple drives, but they all need to be directly connected to the host PC. What kind of duplicator is it? Acard by any chance?

Unless they add Lightscribe/labelflash functions to their firmware, you are SOL. sorry.
