help in accessing readable data on damaged hard disk

    hellooo all,

may i request for your assistance, please..

i have a dell inspiron 510m laptop that crashed recently, doesn't boot up -- even in safe mode. tried to do a repair on the OS, didn't work. . did diagnostics and found that my hard disk is no good anymore. i bought a new hard disk and have prepared it for the transfer of data from the old hard disk. connected the old hard disk via usb to the laptop and found my old profile on it but cannot access it ("access denied!") i am logged on as administrator on the laptop but i cannot disable the 'read only' attribute of the profile on the external disk. i need the data there badly and would appreciate any help extended in recovering it. puh-lea-ea-ease!
