need help to connect NTL box to Viewsonic LCD monitor!

Hey guys,

I just purchased the ViewSonic VA1912w which has a VGA input (currently connected to my laptop) and a DVI input. I unfortunately don't have a TV but I am wondering if I can just connect the NTL box directly to the 2nd input on the monitor and watch it through that?

I heard there are cables that allow this, I believe they are SCART to DVI but I heard they are very expensive. I am unsure if the NTL box has a HMDI output, I don't think it does. Alternatively I was thinking maybe to get a TV adaoptor for the laptop, and connecting the NTL box directly to the laptop and playing it that way.

If anyone knows what I need to get this running, I would appreciate it

What type of connectors does the monitor have? I'm not familiar with the model, but unless its designed as a tv/monitor then it will most likely need external hardware such as scart - vga adaptor but these are not cheap either. Might be worth looking at other options instead due to costs.

One solution might be to use a tv capture card with either svideo or at least composite input and connect it that way, but the quality can be hit and miss. You'd need a scart-svideo cable if doing it that way, but it should be watchcable, just don't expect too much from it.
