Help Ps on buying a HD for vid/pic editing- Int or Ext ?

Hi i do a lot of camera/camcorder editing and understand when capturing video it works better on a seperate drive from the OS! But is it better to have a Internal or a External Hard drive If it is which is good type to buy (£100 Budget) and even if it isnt can you recommend a good one internal please? (Does not have to be a Sata)

You should be better off with an internal for that, usb will be slower.

how much space do you need may be worth considering a wd raptor as they are slighly faster but they are over 3x the cost per gb.

or maybe a striped raid setup so it splits data accross both hard disks so it can read and write faster

this is less reliable as if 1 of the h disks breaks or the raid controller breaks you lose data on both. Not sure if using the hard disks on a raid controller of the same model would allow you to use the same raid array from a broker 1 u would have 2 ask someone with 1st hand experience in this.

internal hard disks are definitely alot faster.

best to use internal drive unless the external drive can be connected via eSata

Thanks people! I will buy the hitachi deskstar T7K250 rated very well and ebay seller has some for only £50 new? Or the Western Digital 3200JD at only £65 (same seller) .which seems reasonable!
