    Accessing old hdd

I have my new pc all built and i have windows on my sata hdd. I've also put in my IDE hdd from the pc i was using before this one.

The IDE hdd has windows installed also, and has all my documents on it. I was thinking i can just drag my documents from teh IDE to the sata, but when i try and access my documents on the IDE it says:

    "Access is denied"

I have no password on the user account, so how can i access the documents from it?

Also, does such thing as an IDE cable extension exist? I have an Akasa Mirage-62 case, and P5B mobo. The P5B only has 1 IDE socket so that's enough for CD-ROM and the IDE hdd. Trouble is even with the CD-ROM in the lowest bay and the hdd in the highest, the connector won't stretch to them both (ie if its in 1, it won't stretch to the other at the same time), so what can i do about that?

    Cheers,
    Chris.

Ensure you're logged in as an account with local admin privileges, then disable simple file sharing and take ownership.

^ What Splash says should work
Edit: Really should refresh before posting...as it obviously did work

Do USB>IDE or SATA>IDE adaptors take your fancy re: the extension cable?

Otherwise, an uber long IDE cable might just do the trick

USB to IDE would work or a reversed cable as long as the distance between the motherboard and the hard disk is short...

Also a hard disk caddy would work as you could then mount the IDE hard drive under the Cdrom drive...

DIdn't know SATA>IDE adaptors existed! That sounds a good way to go, i have 3 spare sata ports anyway.

    Cheers
