Help me OC my 955BE :)

    CPU : AMD 955BE

    MOBO : Gigabyte MA770t

    Ram : 4GB G.Skill Ripjaw 1600mhz

The limit ive reached on stock voltage is:

    HT 2200mhz

    Multiplier x 18

Ram @ 1600 (not sure on timings)

Gives me 3.62ghz on stock voltage @ 1.344.

Now if i up the voltage to 1.49 i can get 3.9ghz, but i cannot get 4ghz .

Should i just be happy at 3.6ghz @ stock voltage ?

I would probably stick with what you can get on stock voltage. It will also be a good idea to stick some heatsinks on the VRMs too.

    These should do the job:

    ????

This is the Gigabyte webpage for your motherboard:

    http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/...ProductID=3096

    It says this:

"Please apply sufficient cooling to CPU VRM zone when ACC function is enabled."

Having sufficient cooling for the VRMs is essential as the Phenom II X4 955BE has a high TDP and overclocking will put more stress on the VRMs. The VRMs will run hotter and since you are using a Corsair H50 it also means that their will be no downwash from the cooler either.

As long as you can keep the Phenom II to around 50C and below it should help overclocking although 3.9GHZ is actually quite good for a C2 stepping Phenom II X4 955BE even with a Corsair H50.

Not sure if this helps but even with my Noctua NH-U12P on my Phenom 955 C3, it can't get to 4ghz on "nice" temperatures. At 3.9ghz right now it's at around 57 load at 1.4v, for 4ghz I need a voltage bump which then puts pushes the load temps to around 61 degrees or so and then the pc generally crashes not long after that.

Is it prime95 stable @3.9ghz ? I mean..i can get to that, and run 3dmark vantage, but crashes under prime95.
