Watching Japanese DVD on UK PAL TV?

Does anybody know what kind of equippment do I need to watch Japanese NTSC DVD on UK PAL TV? I found this site(http://www.codefreedvd.com/)and interested in buying Code-Free 200 DVD Player, but do you think it's worth 244 euro including postage? Or is there any other option available? (cheaper the better)Thanks.

almost ANY player/TV combination these days should be fine with it

Japan and the UK are in the same DVD region (2), so all you need is NTSC playback capability - which can be found in any set-top player, and any TV bought within the past ten years or so

depends a bit on the telly. some dvd players can (iirc) convert ntsc to pal, so you'd be sorted there too. is that one worth it? hell no.

Thanks for your inputs really appreciated, so can you guys kindly recommend me any particular model I should look for? BTW my telly is really old and any Japanese DVDs played on PS2 give me black/white image. So I think conversion has to be done on DVD side. Is there such player?

P.S. lol. I love Shibai taro ka, Kumagoro-san.

I'm not sure, but I think it's like...24inch? And I'm the second or third owner from new so it's very old. I don't mind buying whole set as long as they are affordable but I need to make sure they can play back Japanese DVD. Any recommendations? I have many Japanime DVD I want to see in full color. They are like Akira Kurosawa movie now

check the bargain forum there is a 32" sharp LCD going very cheap £550 I think, that will support NTSC, future proof and good value for money, as for a dvd player, best bet just head down to your local richersounds and grab a multi-region for like £30 but if you after something better I get a cambridge audio their players are pretty quiet if you after silence.

Wow, thanks. I didn't know this retailer but found a nice deal on their website. It's only £19.95 and it says it has Ntsc-Pal60 Conversion. What do you think? Do you think I can use my old telly with this player?

a TV antique enough not to do NTSC probably won't do PAL60 either

Thanks. So does that mean if I get TV that supports PAL60 then I would be able to watch Japanese DVD with this player?

    yeah that's the trouble.

you could pick up a cheap 24" set from asda or similar, should cost around £100 - 28" widescreens are about £150. or, better still, get one out of the freeads, and go round with your dvd player/dvds, and make sure it plays them as you hope first. any decent seller won't have a problem with you doing that
