please save my sanity
well i'm having a slight problem
when swapping over to a X2 amd 3800 my MB died, my pc would power up (HD crunches, led on MB on, CPU fan and Case fans work) but no boot into bios screen
i've another system (754) and swapping over PSU,ram, graphics card, case all worked fine but all 3 of my 939 (3800 x2,3700,300) chips all exhibit the same problem and having now tried 4 different MB's and with RMA's 7 MB's in total!!! I'm soon to go mad
whats more likely all of my 939 chips died at once or that all 7 of the MB's were DOA
any insight or help would be most appreciated :)

If you put the 939 chips into a dodgy motherboard, then there is a possibility that they were fried when you tried to boot up :(
-
:) ta for the reply
i've been trying not to think o that possibility :(
i'm thinking my next move is gonna be a cheap 939 chip
the origional 939 MB had been working for 3 yrs could it have suddenly turned into a frier :undecided

This is not a slight problem and my sympathy to you. So you mentioned you've tried your cpus on 4 different motherboards, are they all different models or are they same?

ya right not a small prob but i always think its happened what ya gonna do
live and learn so next time i have a MB prob i wont just chuck another chip in
the boards are
gigabyte k8nf-9
dfi infinity
dfi infinity SLi
abit kn8 SLi
msi 7184 (forgot that one:mrgreen: )
PSU,ram, graphics card all tried on other PC and fine
lack of any beeps or boot into bios lead me to think its either MB or CPU as PSU good
planning on new intel build but was hoping to fund selling other system so me thinks that might not happen now
well i've got the E6300 chip its a start
-
what psu is it, just out of interest?

Don't you know someone who has socket 939 system and able to help you by testing your cpus on his PC? I just can't believe mobo can kill 3 cpus in a row. I have built many systems in the past and I made a lot of silly mistakes but not a single cpu died on me.
-
to be honest i still think its the MB it just seems hard to believe i'd get so many duff ones in a row
i do know some one with 939 but to be honest it'd probably be quicker and easier buying a cheap chip

Well if you have endless income then that's the quickest way to solve your problem, but what about those 939 cpus? Will you be able to return them? They are like 200 quid all together which is not a small cash to lose?:O_o1:
-
ah endless income that'd be nice
i wasn't about to chuck the CPU's it would just be nice to know what was at fault coz it's abit maddening at the mo
