    Question bleeping from motherboard?

To stop a error bleep (which i think is a false positive) i removed the internal speaker cable. This reduced the bleep volume by about 95% but there is still a slight but annoynig bleep coming off the motherboard. Although it's usable it is not ideal. Does anyone know of a way to disable this?

    Cheers

Ps. it's a asus p4s8x pentium 4 m/board, and I'm not afraid of a soldering iron if anyone thinks this it's necessary.

I would be tempted to find out what was triggering the bleep and fix it - rather than simply remove the speaker.

Aye,find out why its bleeping. Best recourse is to strip the machine to bits and see if it beeps with just cpu, memory & video card plugged in.

If so then the next step is to reset the cmos and boot again. If it still beeps then remove the board from the case and try once more (in case its a grounding problem (or a short somewhere).

If all that fails, then other than reseating the CPU / RAM your are knackered and its a fault with the board in all likelyhood.

    but....

    Talking glue solved it

i removed everything and it still bleeped (forgot to test grounding) but hey , ignorance is bliss and i glued the little motherboard bleeper. Now it makes barely audible complaints that are easier to ignore. I just don't leave in on when i leave the house any more, and just hope it survives till next year when i'll upgrade.

    Thanks anyhow.

If I were you i'd still try to find the reason for the beep(s). If not you could find that it's something serious and you could end up with more than one damaged component. A small problem could turn out to be rather expensive.
