    hard drive upgrade

    Hi,
I have a laptop, which has a 40 gig hard drive. I've got a 100 gig hard drive which I would like to replace the 40 gig hard drive in the laptop. I have bought a 2.5" hard drive enclosure so I can transfere the files over. What software do you recommend, I'm just looking for something simple that would do the job. Any ideas?

    Cheers,
    Ben

    Hi,
I tried using Partition Magic 8.05 after some googling. I got it to copy the c:\ partition onto the new hard drive and then I swapped the hard drives. The hard drive is recongnized in the BIOS, but no XP logo shows even through the hard drive is 1st boot device.

Can anyone give me a simple, uncomplicated program to do this rather simple task or prehaps give me some step by step guide on what to do?

    Cheers,

The partition is probably not set as active or something daft like that... Boot off your old drive with the new drive in the external case and then run scandisk on the new drive. That will probably fix it for you...

Well after alot of searching, I used Acronis TrueImage. I downloaded the trial, which was fully functionable and was able to clone the drive in windows.
