Small predicament involving keyboards and booting things

Ive got a usb keyboard which for some reason doesn't work for:

    boot loaders
windows xp - Start windows normally, safe mode etc screen
    Linux install disc boot screens

This is obviously going to be a problem when I get linux installed as I wont be able to choose between it and windows. I'd rather not revert to having a ps2 keyboard lying around doing nothing 99% of the time so any ideas?

    Cheers.

go into your bios, enable legacy usb emulation, or keyboard emulation. some option like that, depending on the bios.

those actually rely on the device having the PS/2 protocol implemented. They are passive convertors only, they don't change the single at all.
