Sound Problem :S
Hi,
my onboard ethernet stopped working today for no reason. so i installed a pci ethernet card. the internet came on and everything was fine... but when i play music the sound makes loud crackely noises:confused: . the speakers are working fine. any help would be much appreciated thanks.
My system:
dfi infinity nf4 mobo
AMD 64 3200+
512mb pc3200 ram
80gb ide hdd
xfx 7600gt with zalmen vf900

Try a reinstall of the mobo chipset drivers that should have come on a cd with the mobo, or better still check the DFI wesite for updated ones.
-
iv updated the drivers but the problem still occurs
-
you havent installed that nvidia firewall thing have you? thats always a killer.
-
i did actually  il uninstall it and see what happens, thanks.
-
did it but the problems still there

I'd recommend perhaps a CMOS reset, or atleast disable the LAN and onboard sound, then restart and re-enable it.
-
if non of the above works try taking the pci network card out and retry the onboard one , as it may be ok as i once had the onboard lan apparently die only for it to come back to life after a power down
if still no go then stick the network card in a different pci slot and see if that helps
-
il try all of these things and post back. thanks for all the help:mrgreen:

I was unable to recover mine after that nvidia firewall thing, i ended up doing a reformat/reinstall and it was fine after that. good luck!
-
IRQ conflict? (I barely know what an IRQ is but I know its caused me sound probles in the past).
-
well i tried the easiest thing first, re-enabling the onboard lan and geuss what.... it worked:mrgreen: i had tried that same thing in vain many times during the past few days but this times it seemed to work. so with the ethernet card gone the sound is back to normal. wooo lol. thanks for all the help guys:)
