powerpoint prob
I've put together a small PPt presentation of jpeg images but I've introduced a short video (mpeg) as one of the slides. the whole presentation plays fine on the desktop where it was created but asoon as I migrate it to laptop, the mpeg won't play:confused:
The opening image of the file comes up but just sticks at that and will only move on to the next slide or back to the previous one

Powerpoint has the file path associated to the files, so unless they are in exactly in the same path, it wont work.
I had to sort out a PPT for a client recently who had done the same thing.
Basically, put the mpeg in the folder you want and readd it to your presentation, should fix it then.

having the mpeg in the same folder as the PPT and moving them together should also retain the link.
Something else to watch out for with embeded video in PPT slides: If you output it on another monitor or projector on the PC you can run into problems. Basically Windows Media Player is relying on DierectX acceleration to display the video, this only works on the primary monitor. All you get on the secondary display is a black box. To sort this you need to reduce the amount of video acceleration in Desptop Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Troubleshooting. Move the slider to the left one notch at a time until it works.

movies are ALWAYS linked, other than SWF (optional)
this is the easy way to ensure links work:
using office 2003, go to FILE/PACKAGE FOR CD and you'll be able to export the PPT and assoc files to a folder, to email / burn. Under the OPTIONS button, should also untick box for INCLUDE PPT VIEWER - unnecessary if client has PPT on their machine.
older versions of PPT use an option called PACK N GO - same thing as above but uses a wizard / clumsier.
