    router and ntl probs

I have just installed a wgt624v3 router and connected it to my laptop, everything is working fine except 1 thing. I cannot play Rome total war on main pc now. I've put all codes in on port forwarding for the game but it still doesn't work. I have since found out that my IP server does not support routers. My IP server is NTL.
How do i get round this problem so i can play my game again.

Any suggestions wud be appreciated as i'm getting withdrawal symptoms from not being able to play

Not sure what you mean by an IP server but NTL will not stop you from using a router. It sounds more like your router is not configured correctly and is blocking the ports required for the game. On my Asus router I get round this by entering the ports on the section "NAT Settings - Virtual server". Port forwarding is slightly different and I dont beleive you will need to use it.

NTL actually sell routers for use on their network http://www.ntlshop.ntlworld.com/webstore/Default.aspx & I've been using a Netgear router on my network for years to connect to NTL.
They won't help you configure your router though because as far as they are concerned their responsibility ends at the modem.

Not getting anywhere so i'll try a different approach.
My system is :Windows XP home edition
    WGT624v3 router
    NTL cable modem.

Everytime i try to play Rome total war it keeps kicking me out.I can play all other games.
Starting from installing the router could anyway tell me what i shud do step by step to get Rome working without being kicked off.
    Thanx

in the rome total war manual it will have the ports it uses listed in there some where and then you have to enter the ports manually and list the server as your computer. (beware this leaves the ports open to attack so it would be wise the turn on the windows firewall)

Not sure if you use Gamespy to connect but here is a link

    http://www.gamespyarcade.com/support/firewalls.shtml

The other option is to put your games PC in the DMZ assuming your router will let you.

in the back of the rome total war manual there will be a list of ports to open such as eg.27015 this will all need to be open. if not you could put your computer in what is called a dmz and this should solve your problems

telling someone to stick their PC in the routers DMZ without informing them of the consequances is a bit lame. There are security implications if you dont have av and firewall. Anyways, ports u need to worry about for your game are 3783,6515,6500,6667,13139,27750,27900,28900,29900-29901, not sure if those are TCP/UNP, enable both for now. I have been using a router with my NTL cable for years and yes some games can be a real b@#ch. I have enabled uPNP for devices / apps that are uPNP aware, as such, port negotiation is handled that way, but most games have no idea how to enable uPNP which is a shame
