amping a laptop
i am an aspiring musician and would like to amplify the audio output on my laptop computer, there's a lot of music i've made that is specific to computer programs, and at some point im going to need to amplify my laptop loud enough to fill a small concert venue. any suggestions?
i've tried hooking my laptop up directly to my 50 watt guitar amp with awful results. i get the computer's signal in addition to tons of background noise.
ive been told to run the signal into a mixer then into the amp, and ive been told to buy a preamp.
so before i buy anything else, i figured i would ask some of the experts here.
thanks for your time!

Yup, that was how I connected my laptop to my surroundsound set (other rig uses optical - but thats useless for this application)

You might want to get a decent sound card before you go buying amps and stuff. Putting it into a guitar amp wont work, you need a hi-fi amp or a pa.

Does the venue already have a mixer? That + a decent sound card should do the trick.
