    Desparate help needed

    about a month ago i brought a new pc, put it altogether and got it goin fine. I had it goin last night switched off, came back from work today and switched it on and nothing happened so i switched it on and off a couple of times until i noticed a strange muffled beep coming from the case, it was beeping every few seconds i opened it up and took it apart, taking the hard drive off and puttin it back seems to have stopped the beeping, but now it wont post it seems to get half way through stops and then restarts. I suspect its only getting half through because the keyboard lights keep flashing on and off and cd drive whizzs stops and whizzs up again.
    Specs are conroe e6600, asrock dual vsta, radeon 9800 pro, corsair ram pc3200, antec 430w psu, soundblaster live.
    Does any one have any suggestions as to what it could be? i might try resetting the bios to see if that helps

    That sounds like either PSU or memory problem to me but yes you should try clearing cmos first to see if that makes any difference.

    is it stopping at exactly the same place each time?

    When you power it on - are all the fans working - the psu, cpu, northbridge, grafix card etc?

    is it possible its overheating?

    resetting cmose wont hurt - always a good step to take

    also try reseating the memory - it does sound like it could be memory related.

    also unplug anything unnecessary, cd rom, floppy, additional non system hard disks, sound cards etc

    let us know

    ive reset the bios and tried some diff ram ive got but nothing seems to be working, the keyboard has stopped flashing now, theres no bios beep to give me a hint.

    there isnt really any way to tell when its stopping as theres no hex output worse luck

    all the fans are working

    suppose it could be cpu overheating cos i had a few probs gettin the fan on and now it wont come off

    reseated the memory about 10 times lol

    yep bench test it out the case, grab a spare PSU, it could well be a bad cap in the PSU.
