Xp pro Password! help needed ASAP!

Hi there, I have a customer here that has forgotton her password to xp pro. I have tried booting into safe mode to do it that was but cant seemt to do it. the log on screen is not the normal xp wiht the picture but a dialoge box.

really need to change/remove this pw asap! really hope someone can help.

There are some password recovery/removal tools that can do that, if you can boot to a floppy or CD.

Hiren's boot CD definately has that sort of tool on it. You should be able to find a download link. Any version above 6 should be fine.
CIA Commander can do it as well, and boot off a floppy.

Tried the floppy?

It's never let me down before...
On NT, 2000 & XP.

Otherwise I'm sure a few of the Linux CD's (as suggested by Fabula) will do the job.

Knoppix and all those bootable ROM OSs work fine for reseting passwords.

My personal favourate for this particular job is UBCD (ultimate boot CD).

Ok made a bootable cd with and ISO and the damn laptop wont boot from CD! the bios is the most basic useless thing I have ever worked wiht in my life! Boot priorty is to the CD drive but just reverts back to default after F10'ing it.

Same applys for the floppy. I know of a way of using the sec. console in XP repair but you need the original product key for that and she doesnt have it

I hate computers Im going to live in the woods lol back to the drawing board.

If its defaulting itself is the time resetting itself as well? BIOS batter could be dead.

are you 100% sure you've made the cd bootable? Try it in another machine just to make sure.
And you are definately saving the bios changes?

I know, stupid questions but sometimes it's best to ask...

I was thinking about they BIOS Batt, i cant really look at the time cause I can get in! lol.

and Killie yer the CD is bootable have tested and the chnages are saved. Have re done it about 3 times now.
