Part Name
Hi all,
Had many problems with my laptop and ended up taking it apart. Please excuse my terminiology but i realised that one of 9 wires out of the monitor which then connect to some little 9port adaptor and then you plug this into the motherboard was damaged. It had been cut dead on where it connects to the little adaptor. I kinda ruined it trying to do a bodge job so could anyone tell me where i can buy them and thier names are? This one had 9 ports which connected into square pins which are on the mobo.
Please ask me to try and explain better if you dont understand.
Thanks:)

Ok just took some blurry pics.
This part:

Fits into the inside of this (from the top):

Also do you have any idea what its for. Is it the power to the LCD.

your best bet would be a solder job, do away with the plug. its going to be very hard to get spares, no doubt a phone call to the laptop maker would shed some light on parts.

I was considering that as a final resort. Solder the wire directly onto the mobo but it just makes my life hell if i need to take it apart again. Although i could solder the wire onto a small piece of scrap wire and then solder that onto the mobo. If that makes sense lol. I tried to solder the wire back onto the plug but there was no chance.

yeh remove the broken wire, you could use a case fan that has a 3 pin to 4 pin adapter and use the 3 pin plug and socket with enough extra cable to tuck the plug out the way and your onto a winner, can just unclip it then. if the cable is thicker than the fan wires, solder all 3 together to increase the wires capacity :) that will stop any hot spots caused by overloading 1 wire from your bodge job :)
that will get you going again for under a fiver.
(edit* looking at the pic 1 wires going to be plenty.)

Cheers GoNz0, really good ideal! Ive just got to go get the wires + plugs + sockets from the store. Oh and a new soldering tip. These are tiny soldering jobs and im using a chunky 5mm tip or something stupid lol. Also got to figure out how to remove that piece off the mobo. On the underneath there is only 5 resistors so it doesnt look they have pins which go all the way through the board. Il end up ripping it off with force in the end lol.

Ahh ur idea is even better that you have realised lol. Im going to buy 3 cheap fans and take of thier ends to leave this part which you were talking about:

Solder the wires out of the monitor and then connect it directly onto the connector on the mobo. Wont take much, just a bit of bodging to make it all fit but from the looks of the connector it looks perfectly proportioned. I just need to remove the top parts or do some minor change to make it fit. Thats about £3 to fix then lol.
Cheers again for the idea!

Jeez mayb not. I need fans with connectors this size:

I know for definate this would fit as the 60x60 fan is used on the laptop. The connector on this is the PERFECT size as it fits just right and is fairly tight with no modifications. But have you seen anything like it before? Such a small connector or is it a standard for CPU Cooling fans on laptops?

video card cooling fans should be the same as those :)
