Help re MS Office Error Reporting And Freeze Up Problem

I hope i am in the right forum, apologies if i am not, and pls feel free to move it.

I have been having problems with my Ms word and publisher, and i believe it will probably apply to all the other apps in MS Pro Suite. I have already reinstall word twice with no joy.

Problem started just running spybot, Adware Se, registery Mechanic and crap cleaner.

Whenever i log into word, it freezes, wouldn't let me use any of the tools, or type anything, and the MS application Error reporting box pops up. It is also the same for any other application that depends on word e.g MS Outlook.

    Application: DW.EXE
Destination: 192:18 etc which i believe is Ms Server.

it continues with the message that MS word/publisher has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvinence.

I have tried every thing i can think off including using system restore to go back to an earlier time, running Registry mechanic and reinstalling MS word.

Am I right in thinking its a missing registry link? Any help will be greatly appriciated in resolving this. I can also post a hijack it log file if needed.

    Many Thanks

Hi there, dead easy fix for this, please get back here and let everyone know if it worked too.

Use search tool and locate all NORMAL.DOT files

Delete them all, then start up Word again, bobs ya uncle and fannys ya aunt.
It should all now work ,and was only a corrupt normal.dot file.

You can resintall office a million times, and it will still not work.

Tried it, no joy. I am still getting the same error messages. i have already installed open office org 2.0 as default word, in order to have access to some of my files.

The only two normal.dot files that showed up was in openoffice org format and i have deleted them, but the error messages and freeze up still continues.Nothing came up under MS Word during the search tool scan.

Please advise what further steps to take.

    Many Thanks for your help.
