    Applications Hanging problem/help needed.

Ok ive recently built a new pc in the last 2 weeks(check out spec under "My System" and over the past 7/8 days i come accross a constant problem which has been driving me mad as i cant find a solution to it.

The problem lies with Programs/applications hanging/freezing randomly and even if i try to End task/process they will not close and so i cant re-open them until i hard reset the pc. Its various programs such as wmp, Firefox, media player classic and even dxdiag just freezing on me. I eventually gave up trying to find the problem and reinstalled windows but 1 day into usage and the problem popped up again. Only things i had installed were a couple of games, Combined Community codec pack, Winrar, Daemon tools and i cant see any of them causing the problem.

Im worried that this might be a hardware issue and my guess would be either memory or mainboard problem but not sure how i could verify it.

    Any help?

grab all the latest drivers from the asus website. grab the chipset drivers from the intel website, then go here using internet explorer and see if it finds anything. Did you do a fresh install?

Got the latest drivers and it was a fresh install. The scan revealed some tracking cookies but nothing that i think could cause applications to freeze and become un-endable.

    Really doing my head in.

Well i ran memtest and 2 minutes into testing it showed up 20 errors. Guess it seems it is faulty ram, is there any chance it could be the motherboard causing the memory faults?

ok so ive removed the memory stick that was getting the errors from the pc and currently have just 1 GB ram stick which produces no errors in memtest. At first i thought the problem had gone but then after a few hours it happened again and since has happened a few more times.

Really racking my brain as i dont know what to RMA.
