Sound not working
Just built a computer for a mate, but one problem. Sound!
Can't remember the name of the mobo at the mo, but its made by ECS. Soundcard is onboard, no other soundcard installed. It's one of those Realtek AC'97 ones, but it also had something to do with Nvidia (Nforce 4 board).
All the drivers are installed, and it doesn't see any problems. Plus the speakers are working fine also.
I tried running crap cleaner to remove anything (clean format anyway!), and its still not working..
Any suggestions?
Cheers
Edit: This is the mobo: http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWeb/Product...uID=90&LanID=8

Have you checked that the onboard sound is enabled in the bios as more often than not it isn't....if not ensure you specify output device in control panel>sound and audio devices
-
Yep, checked a couple of times. There isn't a specific setting in the BIOS, it just says something like Onboard Audio, and you can select either Off or Auto.
And in the settings I've played around in there. It all looks like it should be. There is 2 options in the menus, one was for the sound card, and one was for the USB Camera (which has a built in microphone). But I just set them all to the sound card..
It would be very appreicated if anyone could help me sort this problem out!
Thanks

Have you installed the motherboard chipset drivers?

that has your chipset and sound drivers

As far as I am aware we installed the ones off the CD. I'll give the link to my mate to try out.

Nope that didn't work either :(
Any more suggestions?

In order to get sound off rear audio connector, I think pin 5-6 and 9-10 of your F/Audio header(page20)need to be shorted with jumpers.
