Sound system set up.

Was just about to buy a sound system for my pc. But was wondering if i would be able to use onboard sound card, or would i need to buy a soundcard seperate to accomodate it? Any help appreciated

Really depends on what your looking at getting and what onboard sound you currently have?

Have you tried the current setup into a stereo for example? if that seems to work ok with the PC under load and doesn't stutter then chances are the current card will be fine for most setups

If you are going for Home Theatre level sound system (and corresponding cost) then it would be a good idea to grab a separate soundcard. If not - ie just listening to music and playing games, onboard is fine

I have a stereo with a good sub. But i dont know how to connect it. I can connect the stereo to tv by scart. But no idea on how to connect to pc. It has 2 line out ports, a right and left. Any ideas on that?

Right, the ports on the motherboard will be like the ones on most headphones (3.5mm Jack), the ones on the Stereo will be Phonos (red & white). You simply need a lead to convert between the two, and you'd be away - something like this
