bfg nvida geforce 7600 gs Problem

hi there
i have just had the above graphics card from santa for christmas opened it early
i uninstalled the old nvida card the normal way add and remove. put the disk provided in and installed the driver and directx 9c that was also on the disk. it plays games brilliant not a problem but i have tryed to play files.. avi, mpg and vob files in win media, VLC which plays anything and power dvd and none work it slows the pc right down like a old 486 :-( .. i have tryed beta drivers from nvida and removed all my codecs re-installed divx 6 as well.. defraged my drive.
i am at a loss my hair has all fallen out and i am getting more and more distressed. any help would be great.. please dont suggest a wig.. there must be someone out there who has had the same problem and managed to fix it...

The men at BFG sorted it for me
this was his reply

"I would recommend that you check for the most recent BIOS and chipset driver
updates for your system. These can be downloaded from the computer
manufacturer or the motherboard manufacturer's website.

i just thort if anyone else was having the same problem this would help them
