    Steam Problem... I Think...

I've been getting random crashes in my steam games (mainly dod). What happens is everything freezes and the sound starts looping continuously. Sometimes I can still look around but I cant move or anything. Is this my processor? I tried it at stock speeds but it still does it. The settings are all on full.

    Thanks.
    With love and many thanks,

Raise a steam help ticket, they'll be better able to help you I think.

I had similar issues in DOD:Source once. Found out it was just my overclock. Backed off and it was fine.

Raise a support ticket tho - there always helpful

i used to have the same problem alot...

Turned out to be a faulty graphics card in my case (what model is yours?)

(tho being fair i also had faulty ram at the time which didnt help)

run memtest for a few hours to check your ram.

if it is not the ram stress test in a few other games. If it is your graphics card at fault it should happen in other games too, try oblivion or fear...

I tried turning the graphics settings down and it seems to be working now. The card is an ATI X1950pro and its getting about 80-100 fps on DOD at the recommended settings (which aren't that high ). I would have thought that card would be able to handle it. Its ok with Oblivion on full settings (I get what looks like about 40-50fps). I'm going to try my card in my mates conroe system at see how it fares.
