    680i Mobo and 12v connector

    ok,

Just got a nice nforce 6 board EVGA, that has a 8pin 12v connector.

Now my 550w hyperpower psu only has a 4 pin connector.

The manual says that you can use the 4 pin, but guess what....it doesnt fit the way they show in the picture - the peg things dont fit in the peg slotty things.

Any idea's or is it a case of buying a new PSU??

There are 4>8 pin convertors if you can't get your psu to fit

Sounds like you are either putting the correct 4 pin plug into the wrong half of the 8 pin socket, or you are trying to put the +4 pin from the atx power into it. If its the latter, you should have a spare wire somewhere.
