    Question Sound problem

Hi , Iv been having this very strange problem with my music. When I play mp3's with winamp it sounds like an oldskool tapeplayer with the batterys going, sounds slow and strange. It seems to get worse when I open up morzilla or do other processor/memory intencive processes. I just cant figure it out I have a USB sound blaster sound card (could be that) because when i use my Usb logitech headphones its seems to be ok. Has any one heard of this problem and could help me ?.

    OS: XP pro
    Processor: Amd 3000+
    Soundcard: Sound blaster USB
    Ram: 1.5gig Crutial

I know it sounds strange but I had a similar problem with an old DVD drive. ANd I still get the same problem when I run Oblivion. Its probably some sort of sync problem.

What is your CPU/Memory usage at when you're *just* playing music through winamp and don't have any other apps open? (Check it in task manager).

Also, does the soundcard require USB 2.0 and if so, have you definately got it plugged into a 2.0 port?

Does the sound stutter at all, or does it literally just go deep and slow?

There's a big difference between using USB for Power Draw, and a minimal amount of information... Then using it to transfer large amount of data.

I'd try to reinstall WinAMP to be honest, then if that doesn't really help much, I'd make sure that the USB works efficiently enough for a sound card..
Then again your Sound Card could just be wearing down.

    Lol.

Try downloading Foobar 2000. It uses hardly any system resources where as winamp... well... does.

I seem to think that its the USB sound card , because iv now been runing off the motherboard onboard soundcard and everything seems to be normal . I also knoticed that when i had the USB soundcard running even with music going i could hear a funny destortion coming from the speakers so i pulled out the usb and it went silent no destortion. so i think iv come to the conclusion that its is a worn down old USB soundblaster Live! 5.1 lol , many thanks for all your very quick replys

    Hardware wears down..
    It ages..
    The transistors become older..
The equipment will tend to overheat easier..
So over time, the results you get from a piece of hardware degenerates until it's finally unusable.
