IE permanently on desktop background! Need to remove..

Hey guys,

I've got a problem with a pc whereby IE is always open on the desktop, as if its a background (though it doesn't cover the entire screen). Its not my pc so I don't know how it ended up like that. The guy's whos pc it is seems to think its a virus or spyware, though I've tried scanning and I can't find anything (though definitions may be out of date).

Any ideas?

Right Click on the desktop go to properties, then select the desktop tab. On that tab is a button Customize Desktop - click on that, then go to the web tab and de-select any options currently checked. Click ok on both to return to the desktop, it should be gone

It sounds as though you may have the 'active desktop' in use, to check, go to:

right click desktop > properties > desktop > customize desktop > web > then uncheck any webpages to be displayed on the desktop.

Sounds like this could be your problem. Is there a particular webpage which is open or is it just your homepage?
