wireless wont work on vista

I have a wpn311 which works fine on xp but when using vista it cannot pick up a wireless signal. I have tried xp/vista beta drivers both installed and showed the wpn311 as working in device manager but it still won't get a signal.

any ideas?

i am using the retail (from msdnaa) version of Vista Business if that helps at all.

Have you tried turning off encryption, making sure to broadcast SSID and selecting a channel you know the device knows about? (Usually a country setting in the software).

Just to eliminate those things first.

turned off encryption , ssid is broadcast and all other security. haven't tried channel changing my router currently uses channel 13 does this need to be set in vista?

I think that will be your problem - US only broadcasts to channel 12 so if the country setting for the device is not UK it won't see beyond. It will need to be set in Vista.

I have no idea where to set that though - in XP it's in the advanced properties of the wireless connection I think.

Alternatively change your router to use channel 11 or 4 or something and it might pick up without having to change the country setting.

cheers kalniel the prob was i had the region set to us (forgot to change it).

changed it to europe and it works fine.

Yup, In America only channels 1-11 can be used, whereas Britain has 1-13
