Don't know how to use keyboard through game port to record music

My brother has a bog standard comp (Athlon 2500+ processor, 256mb RAM, built in sound card etc).
I recently gave him a Casio CT-470 keyboard, which has midi 'IN' and 'OUT' sockets. I then bought a midi cable for it, with two midi 'IN' and 'OUT' plugs on one end and a game port plug on the other.
However, having only used USB keyboards with Cubase etc to record music, I don't have the first idea about how to make the computer and recording programs such as Cubase recognise the keyboard, which is connected to the game port.
Does anyone know how you do this?

I think you have to have a dedicated soundcard with a MIDI port, though I may be wrong. The only experience I have had with it was very recently, when the PC didn't have an onboard joystick port, so we bought Creative cards for them

I know it's possible. I achieved it with this keyboard and an onboard sound card with a game port on the motherboard. I can't remember how I did it though it was so long ago lol

You normally have to configure the midi part of the port in the BIOS.

With any luck windows should pick up the correct port address and the midi driver in the Control Panel > Sound should configure itself.

I think the last time I tried this was back in the Windows 95 or 98 era though........

Wish I could help with this, but my only MIDI sequencing experience was with the ST and none-PC systems.

Fixed it. I uninstalled, then reinstalled the audio and game port drivers, and the 'turn midi on' option magically appeared in the BIOS. You've got to love computers sometimes lol
