Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
nice functions to easily narrow down search options into manufacturers
very nice mobile phone version of the site that cuts out most of the bumf that you normally get displaying incorrectly or taking an age to load... it's nice and zippy and it's just pure info...
they accept solo :D
various delivery options with multiple couriers

Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
one slight instant niggle is the quality of the icon that appears in tabs and the URL bar.. it just looks very tacky..
also, alot of the images on the main page are very pixelated/blurred and it subtracts from the appeal of the site. (infact just most of the images on the site are of low quality)
absence of very enthusiastic products such as GTX280's
computer cabinets is an obscure name for a case... and also fans are very prominent within the category despite having their own category
a very low selection of cases... the main option being antec.. it would be nice to see some Lian Li's or Silverstones...
alot of whitespace when viewed at 1980*1200
the bottom section of the website has no boundary lines, which help distinguish between things.
IMHO the location of the about us button is a bit odd, as i would expect it to be on the opposite end of the selection bar...
error on the delivery tab: Initial City Link, they are not called initial city link anymore... it is just city link
also, the fact that they use city link is (in my area) a bad point... but they use TNT as well and i've never had a problem with them...

Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
get a higher range of stock allowing me to purchase everything that i want from one company instead of flitting around several to get what i want....
a dedicated support forum on, oh, i don't know, one of them tech sites.. bit-techs supposed to be good right? mebbe there would be a good idea (i keeed, i keeeed)
overall, despite me picking out more bad than good... it is a nice site and i may use it in the future... as it is nice and light instead of the usual bombardment of advertising and whatnot.. it's just pure and simple 'this is what we have, do you want some?'
and in other news... i want to win sooo badly :D
but in true honour... good luck to everyone who enters...
also, the links in the article point towards the wrong thread... they point to the FSP notebook adapter thingy

Re: HEXUS.winners win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComputer
Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
The ability to search by letter from subgroup, and also filter quickly and easily and easily find the most popular in each category
Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
Ordering on product information wasn't regular, seeing a description before a review feels better
Also says no hidden charges, but postage rates on site are in small writing and ex VAT, could possibly be inc VAT and clearer
Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
I would like to see more product request options, as a suggestion for a product to be stocked, such as a particular controller or peripheral, as some companies make this feature rather difficult to do.

1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Simplicity, navigation by various categories.
Clear Summary of key deals/promotions
Well laid out, not overly crowded.
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
Search function - takes forever. Rest of the site loads snappily, so I presume it is a problem limited to the search function.
Lots of white space, especially when viewed at 1680x1050. Oh, and pink can be hard to read for the prices in bright sunlight (laptop display - 15.4" 1680x1050).
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
Wish list - to allow me to select items for my next order if I am in no particular hurry to get them.
Deal with Hexus, free carriage or something ;)

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Very easy to naviagte to the area you want to go, none of the bloated thigns on most sites now adays. The site loads pretty quick which is great for me when im capped on my broadband.
Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
Not many high end products are stocked which is a shame, even the mid range is slightly missed in terms of graphics card with the highest being a 9600GSO(8800GS) at £60. The site could do with better categories for example hard drives, its very hard to find a specific size as you have togo to components and then select hard drives and filter threw the whole stock at a price sorting, it makes looking for a certain hard drive size or something alot harder to compare price. Nothing else ive noticed.
Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
Looking at their site it seems you have to pay for delivery for a return after 7days, this is the main problem i have with online shopping. If electronics fail within warranty it should be collected at the manufactoers own expense(normally do if you email them first) instead of paying for a replacement, if you buy it from a store its free to replace so why cant online go the extra mile? Atleast free delivery should be valid for 6months because it is up to the retailer to prove it wasnt faulty at sale. Thats probably the only issue i have with online sales.
Had to enter, need a new keyboard+ speakers and anything else given :). Maybe my luck will be great for a second time and win something :P, thanks for the competition hexus and More computers.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1)
Contact Telephone number on front page unlike other E-tailers which have it buried under several FAQ pages.
2)
Pages don't scale, on both my monitors, 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 (v.bad on WS) there are white bars to the sides.
3)
Free delivery, my two favorite E-tailers have it, I hardly shop elsewhere!

1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Nice selection of goods, and a good clean layout.
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
Dont know if its normal for etailers but saying an order will 'usually dispatched the same day' wouldnt be good enough for me, If i place an order i want it dispatched the same day..
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
My main problem with online shopping is that theres nowhere local to return goods to, if you could manage to fix that I would be impressed :D

Like many such sites there's just too much clutter on the front page. The first etailer to present a simple way to navigate to a precise product or a range of products is going to make a killing! I've always thought that a simple "bubble" approach might work. Where the central bubble has sub-content bubbles surrounding it. Clicking on a sub-bubble and it is centered and surrounded by sub-content bubbles. So you could start with a front page with some basic bubbles; say, PC, MAC, etc. Clicking on those would centre that bubble and surround it with say, Hardware, Software, Manufacturers and Publishers. Clicking on one of those would center it and surround it with different products. You get the idea. These cluttered sites might be okay for us techies, but there's a whole larger consumer base out there that likes to be led by the hand.
What’s next? Oh yes...

I'll tell you something another etailer got wrong! Something a lot of etailers could miss if they're not careful. I purchased a graphics card a few years back from an etailer, but the card was out of stock. They were going to get new stock in a month and this card was both cheap and rarer than hen's teeth at the time. So I set up my account and placed the order. During the wait my credit card was renewed so I had a new expiry date. Keen to make sure this wouldn't cause a problem I updated my account details. So the card eventually came back into stock and I eagerly awaited for mine to arrive. It was such a popular card it went out of stock again quite quickly. It really was a great deal. I waited for mine to arrive. I waited, and waited. Then I started to read feedback from buyers on the site saying how they had placed their order and the card arrived the next day. Alarm bells started to ring. I contacted the etailer and it would seem that they tried to charge my card but authorization failed :telephone:. Their online system had a flaw, whereby changes to a user's account were not copied over to outstanding orders. So my new expiry date was never used. The site didn't even send me an email notifying me that they had encountered a problem. So I had waited patiently for a month for this damn card to come back into stock, only to see it sold to everyone else bar me! The etailer was very apologetic, and eventually sent me the product a month later in a brown cardboard box someone had obviously returned. I kept the card, but to rub salt into the wound took a £200 hit on the thing when I upgraded 12 months later. Graphics cards!! Geez!! :O_o1:
So PLEEEASE, transfer updated account information to outstanding orders and use our email address when things go wrong.
BTW, that etailer went bust this year.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1)
Logical product categories allow you to quickly find a product without wondering what it comes under, unlike many online stores
Live stock checks are useful.
2)
When narrowing your options down once you have selected the category, it seems a bit strange to have the brands, then popular choices and finally the subcategories; you will generally be loooking for a particular product type, so the subcategory should come first, followed by the brand, and popular choices should go below this; after all, you won't usually go to a site thinking "I want a Logitech product", but rather "I want a joystick", for example. A little more precision would also be good in terms of narrowing things down; for example, I'd like to be able to just see Intel's Core 2 CPUs without Celerons and Xeons
I also feel the colors don't quite do it for me; in particular the combonation of pink titles, light yellow brand selection background and light blue subcategory selection background.
From a little playing around I'm guessing that out of stock items aren't listed at all. I'd like it if they could be listed so that you know that at some point they will be stocked, with the option to receive an email update when they are.
Finally a little niggle; the Intel logo is the old one, which makes it look as though the site is out of date.
3)
I'd like to see an option to receive email notifications of price changes, as well as the aforementioned stock notifications. Free shipping above a minimum order is always nice.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1.
Simple clean layout. Easy to use. No clutter. An actual stock count on the page is a big bonus. The links to youtube videos on some of the items are also a nice idea.
2.
Some of the categories could use some more breakdown options for narrowing the search. Having to go by manufacturer only in some of the sections isnt very intuitive.
The recently viewed box is a bit far down the page, it could be moved over to the left where there is some space.
3.
Free shipping would be nice. Either through Hexus or if you spend over a certain amount like amazon.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Easy to get to details such as delivery details and returns in the tabs at the top. No messing around with reading through support pages or anything. I nice geographic number. Not some 0870 scam.
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
Pink and black reminded me a bit of pcworld (.co.uk), could confuse people?
Bit 'busy' with all the logos. You have Google Checkout, Paypal, all the credit and debit cards, Twatwe security logo, and Hacker Guardian *twice* on every page (bottom of right hand column and in page footer). Seems a little excessive.
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
Not a major problem, but I do like websites that have dimension measurements and weights in the item description. For some things this is more important than others, but more info in general in the description is always better. Not specifically you, but some companies tend to just copy and paste the marketing document into the description. I find this utter hopeless telling me how my "lifestlye will be improved with the new model of the widget 2000 upgraded to make your life more enjoyable". I expect to see specification details, data sheets etc.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1, you show items in stock, fantastic, you also give the option to view instock items only :)
2, the low res images on the main page make it look like the sites been thrown together and spoils the overall look. i would consider making your own if thats the best you can find ?
theres plenty of options to load an image at low res fast shile the rest of it is downloading so no excuse there :)
3, real time stock levels seems to be a problem for alot of sites, maybe allow them to remain in the basket for a short period of time then release them back to stock ?
-
Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
- They have a clearance section.
- Delivery charges are displayed on a very handy easy to find tab page, so you don't need to add stuff to the basket just to check what the delivery costs are.
- I like the 'shop by brand' button on the bar at the top - can select a specific brand without having to choose a subsection first. Makes it easier and faster to find things from a certain company.
- YEY! a stock counter with specific numbers of items - if you wanted 5 hard drives, you can see whether they have 5 left.
Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
- the fonts and pictures are so tiny and small, never squinted so much in my life, i swear i'm getting 'squint wrinkles' in my forehead. 1024x768 res by the way.
- when you click on 'description' 'reviews' and so on, on the product page it should open a new frame/cell thing below, but instead a new page is loaded, so if you use the back button on your mouse it takes AGES to get back to the page you where on before you clicked that particular product.
- not very many 'filter' options to find specific things - e.g. graphics card section very difficult to find a certain generation of card like the ATI 4000 series, and ONLY display the 4000 series.
- did i mention the tininess of things?
Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
If the online place also has a shop, then I would love the ability to order online then collect in shop and pay by 'cold hard'/'floppy paper' cash. Mainly because I don't have a credit/debit card and don't want to hang around in shops looking through various things, i would prefer to read through everything online at my convenience, wander into the shop and be in and out in 5 minutes..

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
I like/
The compare facility is easy to use and gives the information you need. Nice :)
The telephone number is a landline, I love this in a company :)
Clearance sections, always interested in a bargain even if its old :)
I dont like/
What - The central column for main items seems just too small, needs to be wider.
Why - Its easier to read accross, not down
What - Text menus, I'd like to see a formatted table, neat and tidy, but not too plain.
Why - I prefer to choose from a table, but instead i end up reading it like a paragraph. Equally wide buttons for every type of component would be great in the components menu. The side menus could use buttons.
What - Inconsitency of Stock lists
Why - You have two of the exact same item, one with a full description, one with a basic one and they both drastically different prices. Both in stock at different levels and one is priced sub £35, one over £40.
Could do like others
Free delivery like Scan
Clearer daily/weekly offers like Scan
Gallery shots like e-Buyer
Apologies for being so critical.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Easy to navigate through site.
Website loads up fairly quickly
Nice to see a clearance section :)
Like the idea of showing "Best seller" items
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
Not really a fan of the overall design of the site (feels crowded in some areas)
Big white spaces when viewing at 1680x1050
Not many High-end products
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
Free delivery for Hexus members :P
Regular offers like Scan's 'Today only'
-
Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1. Easy to find delivery costs, very irritating when a website makes you search through several pages just to find out what delivery will cost. In order to make valid cost comparisons between sites I need shipping costs.
2. Lack of categories and filtering options. For example clicking on components, then cooling fans modding leads to a large list of a mix of products. Included are fans, cpu heatsinks and seemingly miscellaneous objects (a toolkit?!). At least give customers options to filter the page by manafacturerer or product type.
3. Free delivery options, providing discounted offers (like the scan today only page), list dimensions for all products and, where relevant, weights (cpu coolers for example).

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1) Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
- Most importantly it was quick to load and fast to navigate around: I think you've got a good balance between aesthetics and speed. Narrowing things down by tags is very fast and efficient, and the tags you're using are (mainly, see later) pretty intuitive and sensible (unlike certain other retailers..).
- I also really like that you're so transparent about postage, and that you don't rip people off for living in Northern Ireland. A certain other etailer wanted me to pay a minimum £16 to ship a £5 USB drive. Needless to say I'll choose you over them.
2) Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
- Some of the tags items are stored under are a bit funny. Why are USB memory sticks, optical drives and card readers under "Networks"? To me "Networks" says routers and switches, USB drives and card readers should be under "peripherals" and optical drives...err...somewhere else.
- Not all of your items are categorised properly. I was pleased to see you have a dedicated section for tablet PC's, but mildly disappointed to spot you only had 2 Levono's in there. That was, until I did a manual search and found 2 types of Fujitsu T4220, a Toshiba R400, 3 Toshiba M700s and 3 flavours of HP 2710p, all tablet PCs, and none of them in the Tablet PC category. (The 2710p is on the front page too! The hinge is kinda obvious! :p )
- A quick flick makes me think your prices aren't too competitive, removing any postage savings I'd get from shopping with you.
3) Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
- The site seemed to terminally crash for the night before I got that far! ;) Buggy setup?
- One thing that bugs me about most etailers is how hard it is to get hold of someone if there's a problem. My current favourite shop has a very easy contact system: fill in a form, click a button and they get back to you usually within a few hours. This has been the companies saving grace when something has gone wrong: instead of spending ages trying to find contact details and then getting automate replies, I can get in touch with a human being in 2 minutes flat. Also, these human beings have a proper grasp of English. I've no problems with foreign nationals, but trying to describe a complicated tech problem to someone that can barely speak the language really doesn't work. If you had a couple of staff that were able to address problems by email that would be great. (Can't see if you actually do. Like I said, the site crashed before I went to check this out...!)

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Clean overall design.
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
Strange/long-winded category names; "Computer Cabinets", etc.
Components belonging to one category appearing in another; fans appearing in "Computer Cabinets" when there's already a specific section for them - meant I only saw one case in the first page.
Product description fonts were too small.
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
Drill-down filtering.
Free delivery!

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Similar to other e-tailer sites - off the top of my head, eBuyer.
Landline contact number.
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
Other than the homepage, much of the site didn't work on my setup - Firefox 3.0.1 on Windows XP SP2. This page for example, returns a blank page.
I found the pink highlights a bit garish.
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
I like Scan's todayonly page - everyone likes a bargain eh :)

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Not really. Quite generic. At least it doesn't have advertising everywhere.
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
It wasn't as simple as it could have been. Obvious categories to select would be good - a list rather than a paragraph of them, for instance. It's also difficult to sort - no sorting by memory capacity for instance. Why do flash usbs come under memory in the computer components section? I prefer ebuyer's or scan's navigation and sorting. Easy to find specific and more general items... Also, I found the selection quite limited, components were ASUS-heavy and they were expensive eg HD 4850...
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
I mentioned that ebuyer is better. I prefer a cleaner look. Also "deal of the day" and "today only" deals are tempting...

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Nice, clear, text layout. Easy to see on all browsers.
Searching by brand very useful and often forgotten on sites.
A clearance area and reduction area is nice (more on this below)
The fact that it is always easy to know which section you're in through the menu on the left and the breadcrumbs.
A "live check" of availability is appreciated.
Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
I didn't like the categories under "Computers", "Peripherals", "Networks" being displayed across the page with wrap. Would have preferred a bullet pointed list, but maybe just personal preference.
The clearance and reductions area are nice, but I think would be better if they were grouped together under one umbrella. Scan.co.uk do this very well with their Today Only and Mixit page where you can often go and browse to see any deals. In that sense, instead of placing the reductions into sub categories, putting them on one page for an easy, casual, more accessible browse would be useful.
Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
I really like and appreciate what Newegg.com do so well. They have taken the time (and yes I do understand it would be a long time) to have sub-categories and filters for pretty much everything. It makes the site very easy to use to find specific products and even though I've never bought anything from them (US site), I often go there to find some products in a certain range and category I'm looking at.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
The site has a generally good navigation system, nice effect of the instant dropdown of the left navigation sections
It easily shows how much some products were and how much they are now
Delivery charges and tracking is easy to find
Wide range of payment methods accepted (Paypal which isn't very common aswell as google checkout)
Not full of adverts and colour
range of couriers
mobile section (quite rare in this area)
Able to collect orders
Prices are reasonable and not high like i though they would be
Good returns policy (like all retailers should have)
Loads of help pages
Recently viewed items is useful, when you have a habbit of closing the wrong tabs like me
Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
Some areas of text look very small, particularly around the sides, whereas some pages the center section is larger (average sized)
Majority of images are grainy/low quality
Banner area looks very empty and a bit squashed
Small use of colour
The little colour there is is bad imo and clashes with the rest of it
Doesn't expand to fill or cover more of the screen (I understand this is hard to do but it is possible
As Stevie Lee said, it is sometimes hard to return to where you where previously and takes a long time
I can't control and click links in the left nav to open in a new tab, maintaing the page i am on, it opens in the current tab
Primarily shows prices excluding VAT and there is no option to change it
The website looks a bit too undefined, there are no outlines or borders, sometimes making it hard to read
Top set of links, Contact us, MyAccount etc... there is no space which looks inconsistent
Repeated payment infomation at the bottom and left, which doesn't look good on shorter pages
In the reductions section the previous prices dominate, which isn't good, they should be showing off their saving more by showing lower prices first
Search narrowing isn't very narrow, when you go into components it lists all of the brands instead of product types, cpus, ram, etc... then the brands inside each of those
Popular items and the category are in the same coloured box, making them harder to distinguish between
Some sections can't be navigated easily, intel processors for exmaple
HP and Fujitsu make processors?
Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do?
Offer same day collection or a store to just go in and buy on your way home from work or whatever.
Multiple stores around the country to expand their userbase (might make costs rise though)
Appropriatly name sections and make them easier to navigate, avoding duplicate listings
Improve overall layout and use of space and quality of images
Support forum would be nice too
Advertise more, i've never heard of them
sorry it's a bit negative, but you want feedback, so it's got to be honest!

Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
The layout is delightfully basic and comparative to other electronic products sites, along with the tasteful selection of colours its a pleasure to explore.
All of the information that a first time customer may wish to read through such as delivery information is easily understandable and accessible through obvious tabs and links around the site.
UK based call centre FTW!
Prices are refreshingly competitive but it is but its always nice to see a bargain or reduced section.
Overall i think your slogan was quite fitting, which is often a bit of a rarity.
Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
Whilst the site was nice to browse around, i didnt feel there was quite enough breakdown of catagories, for example it would be nice if the graphics where broken down into ATI and NVIDIA and then possibly the model numbers within them.
Clicking on the review/compare/description etc tabs took a little longer than i thought it should and i didn't really see the need for it to refresh the page.
I dont understand why the 'was price' has to be in ex vat instead of the inc vat that most of your consumers would be interested in?
Maybe nit picking a touch but it would be nice if the site scaled properly to fit my monitors without the sidebars.
Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
One thing which i feel would be a great feature to an online shopping website would be a direct comparison to other sites listed right underneath the product. It would save time and effort but i can fully understand why it hasn't been done.
The main feature which keeps me going back to scan is their free delivery to active users of the Hexus forums. I occasionally order from ebuyer for their free delivery over £50.
The Novatech site has a nice feature on it where you can have a live chat with people about what your shopping for. Whilst i have never used it and i found it to be a bit intrusive as it pops up and shades out the entire rest of the window, its still a very nice idea to be able to have an MSN type chat and avoid putting minutes on the phonebill.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1-PC Pro awards displayed on the home page. It's nice to know it is a well trusted site and the awards do that well.
-Avaliable newsletter that is usually the best way to promote great deals to customers.
-Very well priced pre-built systems for home or office use.
-Speedy delivery service at better prices than many other online retailers. Also the ability to collect straight from the depot could well be useful for people that work/live near the depot to save on delivery. Many other e-tailers do not offer this service.
-The whole site seems very open and honest. There really are know nasty hidden charges that some sites have. For example when they show the items without VAT until the checkout.
2-Although there is a healthy amount of stock, it is somewhat lacking in variety. Fore example, there is only 1 nvidia GXT 260 and 1 GXT 280. Some people are picky about manufacturers of such products (i know I am) so more stock in areas would be nice.
-Quite a lot of very old stock such as geforce 6 series graphics cards. Having old and newer stock mixed up together can make it difficult to find specific product groups. For example there is no way of browsing only 2.5" hard drives which would be very useful for say finding a new laptop HD.
-I have sometimes experiened some connection issues with your servers. All other sites would work but it keeps getting stuck waiting for your server. Only the homepage loads.
-A lack of pre-built gaming PCs. There doesn't seem to be much there with reasonable graphics cards, even in most of the high end computers.
-Some of the prices are simply a lot higher than other stores. It looks as though a some items have not been updates properly for a long time.
-Not all product image thumbnails (when showb by the priduct when browsing) are clear. A few look very highy compressed or of very low resolution.
3-I would love to see some of the browsing options that are avaliable on newegg. Newegg allows browsing by a huge amount of specifications and it makes it much easier to find what you want.
-A slightly cheaper delivery for large orders. similar to ebuyers free delivery for orders over £50 (5 working day delivery).

1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
1. Love the customer rating, from dealtime etc, good to see a site being upfront.
2. No more hidden charges, what's not to like.
3. Love the googlecheckout and paypal options. I want more etailers to do this as it means less of them have to deal with my credit card details. Always a number one concern when online shopping.
4. Like the live check of stock status and the stock level with time last checked.
5. Really really love the youtube video links. Really inspired never saw this before. If the vids are checked before being shown on the site then this is really good.
6. Very clear layout with Product, Delivery, Tracking, Returns and Reductions
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
1. Too much unrelieved white on the page, need to break it up somehow. Maybe use a light gray background for most of the surrounding screen blending in to the white background around the products.
2. Lose the newsletter email guy. (please!!)
3. Liked the menus on the left with the submenus, shame these submenus don't have sub menus within rather than having to use the menus across the top of the screen. (minor issue really but would look cleaner)
4. Image quality of goods could be a lot better.
5. One last thing, modding. This to me means modding your pc not swapping fans or changing heatsinks. Put the fans in their own section, divided by size and whether they light up. Heatsinks should be in their own cooling section. Modding should be stuff like the bling, lights lazers, heat shrink, cable management, window kits, gromets, bezels, thumbscrews, even fan controllers maybe tools like dremels etc.
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
One thing hmmmm, sheesh that's difficult. Maybe giving me £550 worth of goods ;) But seriously quick helpful customer service. This doesn't mean necessarily by phone. I can think of two etailers I will keep using 'cos they are extremely helpful with queries about their products, going way beyond most other companies and this was all carried out via email. Similarly other etailers have lost me because they have been rude, disinterested or just don't respond.

2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
the homepage just seems a bit empty and white and not particularly flowing in terms of finding ones way around
infact trying to get around the site is a chore and not very good if i'm honest, not enough categories separating different products and types of product ie. no separation for cpus you get all intel and thats it there are no sub categories for the different classes of cpus , same with memory its all there no separate bits for ddr1/ddr2/ddr3 etc
the site overall just looks unpolished
the thawte icon is not correct, indeed the whole order info panel on the bottom right is too compressed and looks messy with it
in the returns info regarding faulty goods "If it's after 7 working days it needs to be returned at your own expense" not sure you can actually state that as i'm fairly sure the law says otherwise

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
I liked the layout of the tabs at the top of the site, and on the left hand side, and the payment options easily found on the right hand side. I also liked the way that the search operated, and how you could quite easily narrow a very vague search category down quite quickly, into something more specific, without too much prior knowledge. As far as the product pages went, the level of information provided was quite ample, and i felt the size of the pictures is just about right. Also a big bonus, is that the price levels seemed quite reasonable. What really stood out, was the reductions tab, that did draw my attention, and also the ease of finding specific categories.
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
The main thing that stood out, was the listing system, although it was quite quick to choose a main category, and then a smaller category, eg Computer>components>computer cabinets, i feel that the category in itself was quite vague. Although this is one of the most vague categories, it could probably be broken down a bit more. Also as the sorting was quite limited, i felt that it could sometimes deter someone that was looking for a particular sized HD rather than by price or brand.
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with on-line shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
I like the menu systems of both Dabs.com and Scan.co.uk they're very useful for narrowing a search down, and at the same time (mainly dabs.com) aren't to dissimilar to the system already in use, so existing customers could probably quite easily make the change.

clean and attractive pages, easy to navigate and simple to get what ya looking for.
deals that change per week or day not just a reduced section with 4000 items... that must be like 1/4 of your total stock?
a clear pricing scheme, differnt ways of viewing results of items e.g frames and picture sizes
clear and sharp pictures for all items

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Firstly, I liked the area on the right hand side of the pages, which inluded the customer ratings, security certificates and the awards that they have won. I liked this as it gives me and other potential customers the confidence and knowledge that they are buying from a reputed and safe site, and will not get ripped off or scammed. Also having it on the home page means it is instantly visible which is also very good. However could be toned down a slight bit ie. not having it on every page where it becomes a distraction.
The clearance area is also very good; it is easily seen on the page and means that people (including myself :) ) can pick up a bargain if need be.
The mobile aspect of the site is also pretty good. Viewing it on an old htc phone, i was able to go through categories and find products fairly easily
The fact that you can search by brand is good as many other retailers forget this aspect, and it means that people can be more specific if searching for particular items
Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
There are a couple of things i dont like about the site. Firstly is the menu system on the homepage. You have a rather basic looking menu on the left hand side that doesnt keep to the font and colour layout of the rest of the site (the blue looks very out of place). Also there is a separate menu type thing to the right of this menu... it has no value and clutters up the homepage a great deal. It would be better to have one standard menu throughout the whole of the site that has the popouts with the submenus when you hover over it (i hope you understand what im talking about  )
The menu labelling and categorising of products is a bit weird. Components section should have its own catagory as it contains many, many subcatagories ( which are also very rough looking). Also, it is hard to find certain products such as USB sticks; I found it in the networks section which is not really where it should be, and certain laptops. Also in some sections, you cant narrow filters far enough, eg in the cooling area, you get a whole mix of stuff without being able to narrow any further.
Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do
I would like Micocomputers to have a Deal of the Day area/system such as those that aria, ebuyer have; this would attract me to the site and i would be more likely to have a look at the site and buy from them. Also, they should try and have free delivery as i often choose e-tailers that provide this service over those that dont.
If there was one thing that Morecomputer.com could do, it would be to provide real-time price comparisons with other major retailers for the products that they stock at the lowest comparative price. This would be good as it would mean i know that the price from Morecomputers.com for a particular product is the best price i would get, meaning i would not have to waste time looking for prices from other sites. This would save a lot of hassle for me especially... (i should be concetrating on my a levels lol)

Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Customer ratings are always great. I always loved them on overclockers and it's great to see that there aren't many items that don't yet have a review. Alse the "reductions" section is great! I'm guessing you have a certain time period where the items change, maybe a week or a month? I love those sort of deals too. Even though i'm only saving a 20pounds or so, I love the fact i'm getting it cheaper than I wolud normally. It's encouraged me to buy quite a few things so it's definately a great marketing idea. Just one last thing that I think is AMAZING... That wonderful tab at the tob "tracking". I love to know how far away my new laptop is or when i'll get my new GPU. I haven't tried that feature as I haven't bought anything from you yet but if it's anything like the tracking system on lets say Parcel Force (last company I received anything from) then I will love it.
Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
The delivery charges and arrangments. Maybe get a greater range of choices? (This might sound selfish but...) I know you have a few but City Link SUCKS in my town. There isn't a depot here and if I miss a parcel for some reason I have to go all the way to the next town which is like 30minutes away and I can't drive! It's quite annoying. you've probably got some deal with them I guess so there isn't anything you could do but meh! One other thing, I know it's little but silly little things like this annoy me! When you click for example computers down the left hand side, a submenu drops down. This is great however when i click computer again it doesn't go back up. It's a tiny stupid thing but i'm sure you web desiger could do something about it in 5mins. Apart from that it seems really great. Can't tell for sure yet until I use it, however the City Link does put me off i'm affraid :(
Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
I don't really have many problems with online shopping so i'm going to suggest something overclockers.co.uk currently does. They do specialist deals like an already overclocked desktop or a bundle with the tools to create your overclocked system. Not just that, the CPU, Memory and Mobo bundles are really great and it does make you feel better knowing that they will all work without you having to make sure.
hope you get time to read this and I hope you aren't so bored of reading them by the time you get to mine that my whine about City Link will make you want to attempt to scratch your own eyes out with the rounded edge of your mouse... If only that would work...
[edit]Just been looking at the site now and search for Eee PC as I really really really want one (maybe change the prize to an Eee PC and make me win? I would love you for life :P). Anyways, I want a black 4gig one and there were 3, all around teh same price with a coulpe of pounds difference and all with the same spec and description just slightly different model names... Wha?! Just thought I wolud let you know. [/edit]

Overall site layout is simple, not cluttered
Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
"More than 40,000 products - no hidden charges - no gimmicks - no nonsense"
You have this in two places, the top and the bottom but you listed the product amount, you might want to consider removing it or increasing the font for the links like site map and such. Change the white background, perhaps to a shade of gray. The Gaming link should have a referenced PC/console section, because gamers make up majority of your sales but Gaming in general is not defined as console players only, thumb monkeys should not have all the glory :)
The search engine = epic fail
If you want to corner the market for PC products then make sure your on trend watch. The ATI 4850 has been out for some time now and quite a few people have them. Though when I go to Computer/Components/Video Cards/ATI Technologies, I have to sift through all these old cards none of which being the game I have are suitable.
1) Searched for 4850 = found 3 items, non of which were GPU cards.
2) Searched "ati 4850" = "We have found 0 items that match your search criteria: "ati 4850"
3) Searched for "ati 1950" = "We have found 0 items that match your search criteria: "ati 1950"
4) Searched for "nvidia 9800" = brought back 2 cards
5) Searched for Xbox - brought back some controllers for it
6) Searched for PS3 - brought back nothing but printers. . . ?
7) Searched for Playstation - Takes me directly to - Buffalo Wireless-G Wi-Fi Gamers Access Point
. <--Whiskey Tango Foxtrot :O_o1:
8) Searched for Sony - Sorry, your search for sony produced no results. Again :O_o1:
9) Searched for Wii - Sorry, your search for wii produced no results. thrice :O_o1:

Not the best first impression and this is truly my first experience with the site so safe to say this is not the kind of experience you want to pass along. But as a customer I always do a back ground on who I shop with because I'm a tech and all we do is trespass so I want to make sure before my money goes out my order goes in.
But in my quest I find -
I have to outline the sentence "According to the MoreComputers.com research, online shoppers also find poor stock information, the lack of contact telephone numbers and the use of 0870 telephone numbers very annoying."
Please take the search thing seriously because you said it yourself, nobody likes to not find what thier looking for because then you become a back burner store, one of those "they're good for monitors but thats all" type stores i.e. Dell.
Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
Better ability to locate items i.e. true google ability to locate items specifically in the site. Live chat system for order query and information. Bill me later is a nice start, they offer a good service for those not wanting to go all out with credit cards.
You click on gaming on tigerdirect they have a superb list but they only have few items for PC but needless to say you know where to find xbox and psp and so on.
I am not sure my opinion counts much because I'm in America and of course will most likely not use your site, not because I'm naff and not bother to look convert the currency, it's because the only internation shopping I do, is for hard to find items like remote control helo batteries and such. Don't get me wrong, your site is good and I am not wanting to be a nause but honeslty this is my first impression of the website.
I doubt I even qualify for the contest being in America but there was nothing said about it so I figured why not. In either case I hope the site continues to excel in the areas it's most recognized for.

#Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
I like the use of pictures to back up the text on the main page, makes it looks a lot nicer. The ''best sellers with reductions'' seems like a very nice (& tempting) idea. The tabs at the top of the page are a good idea. There is nothing worse hunting around a web site for information on delivery charges & tracking/returns. The moto at the top of the page is also good, very simple but it re assures me that im not going to get stung by using you. Like the idea of this competition aswell! :D
Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
For some reason i cant load anything but the main page. In Firefox the page loads blank (as in totally white), in IE it just comes up with ''web page cannot be found''. I am in south africa on a dodgy connection though so it might just be me, but everything else (main page & rest of net) is working without any problems. I will re-try when i fly back to the UK next week. I dont like the fact there isnt a phone number on the front page. I do like one (preferably 01 or 02, NOT 08** due to mobile phones not including them in price plans) on the main page. Helps me feel re-assured that the etailor isnt making it hard for me to contact them should there be a problem. Hard to find contact details = something to hide? etc
Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
With scan etc offering free delivery i think that should be your first port of call. If the previous posters are correct (i cant check :() with the low number of products offered, then this also needs to be sorted. It is a lot of hassle having to order from 2-3 different etailors and having different delivery dates etc. I would rather pay a bit more money and have my entire order from the same place. Maybe also consider getting into bed with hexus & having a support forum like corsair, scan etc?

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
I like how obvious you make parcel tracking etc.. That's a nice touch. Highlighting your Price Reductions and delivery in it's own section is good too :)
The layout isn't bad and it is obvious how to use the site, if a little inefficent.
The prices themselves are pretty competetive in places as well which is great :)
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
As I will explain further in Q3, the filtering system on your components isn't the best.
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
Since this is an entusiast site I can only assume you want to aim at enthusiasts, I have a few suggestions.
Filtering products is one thing. As an enthusiast if I want to find all the AMD based 780G boards, I seem to have to look through either all the boards, or just one brand of boards to find them. That makes it difficult when someone like scan lets you filter it very easily in two clicks from the home page.
Searching is obviously perhaps a better way to accomplish the filtering I suggested but the search seems a little slow for me.
Again with notebooks, people are almost always after a specific size, subnotebook or netboook, 12 -13.3", 14.1 - 15.4", over 15.4". That is almost more important than filtering on price as you have allowed for.
The other thing about entusiasts is the various types.
Silent PC entusiasts, Overclocking, air cooling, water cooling, HTPC components (micro ATX, mini ITX etc..). If there was a way to differentiate your components or at least highlight your components for particular categories it would be a great help to a lot of people. Take a look at specialtech or KustomPCs for examples. Scan do a fair job of it too.
Loyalty schemes are obviously a nice thing to have. To use scan again, regular posters here will get free delivery above £20 ex VAT, a nice touch. Ebuyer also have a free delivery above £50 option. No one likes paying for delivery plain and simple but is £5 is standard for what ever you buy, size and weight not being issues, then it's not all that bad. But loyalty schemes are always good lol

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
What's really striking is the fact that the website presents itself nicely, instantly giving you a feel that it has been professionally and carefully executed. The information on the right hand side i.e. pc pro awards, customer feedback from well known sites, hacker guardian - instantly reflects the quality of the company allowing a first time visitor to really bookmark this as one of the e-tailers for computer related items.
Perhaps the most important, in my point of view is that delivery, tracking, and returns are on well defined and separate tabs on the top. I think this is an important feature a lot of other sites are lacking, as a customer when buying from on line websites information about the shipping and return of items is of great importance. Its accessibility gives an impression that the company doesnt hide anything, striking me as being informative ergo good customer service.
Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
The front page of the webpage is neat and presentable but not striking enough, although i dont see this a negative but its something i think could be worked on. The categories are simplistic and neatly done, but however are not really well arranged. Seeing how the gaming section does not have any items for pc gamers, and this is just one of the few problems. I have to say the large search box really hit me well, but after running test searches on it it didnt really give outstanding results. This is the most important feature for a website. If google got successful because people love to search, then that should be no different for this website.
One thing that gives me a big problem is the white text highlighted with pink. Although I have to agree that it follows the company logo's colour, i think the contrast is not really right and somehow is a bit of an eyesore. I would like to suggest pink text and black highlight. Or if possible, adding a background colour to the entire site would be nice.
Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
The biggest problem i have with on line shopping is that most if not all of the pictures of the items are taken from pictures handed out by the products company. Thats why sometimes before buying a laptop or something else, I usually go to my local store to check as to how a real product looks like in the flesh. Then puchase it on line later on if i like it (obviously because its cheaper).
I would like an e-tailer to show raw photos of RELEVANT items much like how newegg (a US website) does. Because sometimes items look good on the pictures, but end up being a lot worse in real life. If not possible then why not let purchasers upload their own photos? Just an idea. Again im saying RELEVANT items, we really dont need to see how well a CPU looks in real life anyway because its gonna bes spending most of its time under the heatsink.
And remember some people love to talk about their problems but im sure a lot of people are comfortable typing their problems. Especially given the funny names hardware have these days, im sure the letter and numbers doesnt make saying it any easier.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1: Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
It's nice and clear, with plenty of information about the products. I especially liked the recommended Youtube videos and customer reviews.
2: Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
I dont like the navigation system at all, as its not clearly layed out or organised properly, and it does not easily allow you to filter the products. For example when searching for memory I can only filter it by brand. I'd like to be able to filter it by multiple factors, like type, speed and size. I think this is where sites such as Scan's and Dab's work brillianty.
3:Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
I think the main thing is making sure that the information for every product is completely correct, and gives all of the extra information which I ususally look for, like revision numbers. Some times when shopping its hard to tell if what you are ordering is the latest revision of the product (for example with motherboards, or other similar products) or has had any firmware or fixes applied.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Clear delivery page with concise information. All too often on some sites I have to jump through hoops to find the information, or worse still, get all the way to the checkout before it tells me.
Obvious clearance section is good too. I like flicking through bargain pages, not so sure my credit card does though.:embarrassed:
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
A few too many price figures around products, especially in the Reductions section. A 'Was', 'SAVE', 'ex VAT' and 'inc VAT' figure for each product makes it a tad difficult to flick through quickly and see the correct prices. Making the 'inc VAT' figure significantly larger might help.:)
As others have said, the white space is very inefficient, spreading things out a bit more might help with the clustered pricing I mentioned as well.
I would like an option to split computer components up into further categories. I didn't, for instance, see an option to split memory into DDR, DDR2 & DDR3 or Intel processors into Quads, Duos, Celerons etc.
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
Although I appreciate the difficulty of taking and uploading tons of high res photos, I really would like to see better pictures of what I'm buying for some items. Not so much mainstream stuff like processors etc where you know what you're getting, but for obscure items that it's harder to find detailed reviews of it's often a bit of a gamble. With things like cases, laptop carry bags, keyboards etc I really would like more than a thumbnail before buying.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
I haven't read the others so these points may have already been covered...
1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
- Expanding side menu is nice although a deeper layer of sub categories would be useful
- Real phone number! It is great that you are not trying to skim extra money of people who phone you. Makes you look very honest.
- Its on Hexus. Adds to the brand image of the site and it adds a degree of trust
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
- Some products spread over too many pages (even with 30 per page), filters by socket, brand or price would be good. Maybe have the popular products at the top and then a long list (without photos) of all product underneath, so I don't have to browse through many pages to looks at all your 159 motherboards.
- You must sub-categorise motherboard and cpu by socket
- Need a bigger range of PSUs
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
- good customer service brings loyalty big time. Ebuyer/Scan have brought in a lot of business by going the extra mile.
- weekly special offers at very competitive prices. I surprise myself how much other stuff I buy after being tempted into an order by a bargain. Last time I wanted just an Sharkoon Quickport, but I ended up with a LG Blu/HD combo drive too!
Will add more after I browse around a bit more :)

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
# 1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
I liked the clearly defined product categories. Eg i wouldn't get stuck choosing between two similar categories that clash when trying to find something i was looking for.
# 2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
The site seemed to lack any form of style that i have accepted as an industry standard. Compared to ebuyer this site seems too simple. The colour theme, particularly for the sub categories is unattractive. Also on a modern widescreen monitor this site leaves too much blank space. It just doesn't have the same professional presence as one of the more established e-tailers.
# 3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
Call me a man of simple pleasures, but i would definitely like to see a manufacturer site link for each product. That would make a shop one i would have a reason to come back to.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Clearence/Reductions sections with low prices. Ability to use PayPal is great - i dont trust 'new'(Not recomended to me/new retailer) retailers with my cards on my first purchase. Games section is it puts gaming products in one place, so if your looking for a keyboard, mouse, headphones etc you can find it there without searching the place
Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
Low Quality images are used on the front page, alot of white space. Text is kind of small, needs to be a bit bigger. 'View Larger' doesnt show you a larger version of the picture, it shows you the same picture. Kind of slow. The pages are kind of cluttered. Would like things to be more catagorised, preferably on the side menu the adbility to find it, ie under components you can select memory, or cpu, etc. Top menu doesnt drop down for easy navigation which is a let down. You cant search, almost ever product ive bought from an online retailer ive searched for it rather than finding it.
Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
Customer support, if you have a problem you should be able to contact them, sort any problems out etc easily. Also first impressions, when i first got onto ebuyer/scan after being recomended, first thing i saw was the site and products, it was great, ended up purchasing. Free delivery offers persuade me to buy more.

1.Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
nice simple easy to read layout.
the ability to use paypal as a payment method is also good
and nice simple tracking system.
seperategaming section is also cool
2.Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
site looked very dull and boring very little colour to it. nothing that really grabs you as you join the website.delivery charges are a little high
3.Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
i like the fact that scan send you a text message when your order is despatched, this is really good if you are waiting on an urgent item but don't want to sit at your pc waiting on an email.
loyalty program such as free delivery on orders over £50 or similar or 10% or £5 discount(wiggle.co.uk do £5) for people that subscribe to your newsletter.
these things will draw customers in and then your good service will keep them

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
The layout was quite nice, sub categories for the main topics.
Customer reviews were there to see what certain products were like, along with youtube videos and multiple images.
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
Some parts of the text was small.
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
Being able to delivery to another residential address, i.e. present for someone else and adding in arrival dates for the out of stock items rather than simply stating out of stock!

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Reviews for products from customers and ok customer services such as insured delivery, a good returns policy and easy to find contact details, help customers to trust the website is legit. Not to mention the "No hidden charges, No gimmicks, No nonsense" slogan which is re-assuring.
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
Website seemed kinda slow. I didnt like some parts of the navigation e.g. the menu for components could be properly catagorised in a sub menu. Also when searching for a graphics card I cant see any filter options to which would allow me to a certain range of cards i.e. only cards from the ATI 4970 X2 Range.
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
Special Offers on Products (e.g. bundle offers) or delivery, competitive prices. Some sites run forums for Customers to discuss products or get help quickly from site admins which i think is a good idea. Perfect Customer Service i.e. lots of confirmation emails, re-assuring messages, regular site updates, accurate ETA dates for out of stock items.
still, wp on the site anyway

Lots of bargins are always good. I have always liked scan's website as it is easy to find the type of product from the front page.

1)Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Its clean layout, professional presentation and minimal clutter on the homepage, with separation of the required sections laid out logically.
Clean and easy to use navigation, fast load ups and well organised product display.
2)Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
The secured transaction guardian logo on the right hand side. You have it on the bottom too.
You should put the brands into a drop down list once you've gone into a sub section such as monitors.
Sometimes loading takes a while.
3)Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
To be able to call someone at the HQ and have them deal with the problem there and then. Be it returns or general customer service. Also when returning something not having to pay for the delivery of a faulty item.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
After browsing the more computers for an laser fax we need at work I was quite impressed overall.
Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
I liked the wide range of products, good prices and plenty of information about each product on the site. In general I found the site easy to navigate and the search function works well. I also liked the compare function which some sites lack.
Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
The first lack that I noticed was the lack of fine subdivision in the categories. For example, looking for a mono laser fax multifunction machine, I found a section 'printers>multifunction printers', which includes these machines but there are 10 pages to look through to find what you want. Looking for 27" LCD monitors, you can only choose 'LCD 20 and above', which includes many items that don't interest you and also is not very descriptive.
The other thing I don't like being small grey text on a white background. I find that dark text on a bright background is the most likely to cause eyestrain and I don't want a headache when I'm looking for products at work where I have a relatively small screen. Not everyone has a large expensive LCD screen like I'm using here at home.
Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
The main thing problem with online shopping is the way back orders often fail to work, with credit cards being charged and goods never arriving, pre-ordered items arriving late or never, delivery times often being unknown or just wildly inaccurate. It can be a minefield of potential irritation. Some retailers even show stock of a product they don't actually have at their premises and when ordered at a seemingly low price the goods never arrive which they blame on stock errors. It would be wonderful to back-order a favourite item that is temporarily out of stock or pre-order a new hot product safe in the knowledge of when it would arrive and the price. Even scan don't have the ideal system for this, although when they did have a problem with an item I back-ordered they were more than helpful although I did end up cancelling the order. Even better would be if you knew what you wanted but couldn't find it, you could ask a retailer to find it, quote a price and then order it in for you. This is something we do all the time at work for our customers, as the distribution sector and company I work in is very service based.
Hope that helps more computers improve their site and services. Hope I win some stuff too. ;)

Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Layout of the website is easy to follow
Everything is clearly labelled; it’s not hard to find out information regarding delivery, tracking, etc
Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
Too much white space
Not too keen on the pink
Search function is not the best in the world

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
I'm a big fan of customer reviews, so having these available for a lot of items make it much more likely that I'll buy a highly rated product.
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
Nothing that I particularly disliked, although I think more categorisation of some products might be useful (Speakers for example could be sorted into 2.0, 2.1, 5.1, 7.1 etc).
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
I can't emphasise enough how important customer service is. I think sometimes that this can be forgotten in business that operate predominantly online, but having the ability to phone and have a friendly, knowledgeable person at the other end almost immediately (Scan Computers come to mind) makes me order from places like here a lot more often (than Ebuyer for example).

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
- Primary site navigation bar is simple and practical with the use of tabs.
- Search bar shares the navigational bar so it is easy to find and most importantly returned good search results for the products I searched for, even without entering the full name of a product, and also allows searches for part/product codes.
- Clean aligned boxed sections on home page showing products (Computers, Peripherals, Networks) with more sections below also aligned neatly.
- Product information all listed on the same page with tabs to provide additional information/options keeping the different services separate from the main content while only being a click away.
-Additional Images for products were very high quality (Far better than on any of the retailers I regularly visit).
-Reviews / comments for products, which can be one of the most important factors for determining the service users receive from the site and how good the condition of products received were.
-Youtube video reviews were a nice touch, allowing users to vote for how useful the videos are, is also a good idea, having user input and giving the site feedback at the same time.
-Lots of payment options.
-Clearly listed information, delivery and returns info couldn't have been easier to find, products in stock and delivery time and and price are all listed next to the items providing all the info needed in the same window.
-Hacker tested by Comodo is also a plus as I use their Firewall software and find it the best available.
Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
When I log onto your site the first thing that draws my attention is the offers on the bottom left side of the page (for Plusnet Broadband and Free Photo Paper) due to the colour, making these the most prominent parts of the site, which isn't the best idea.
Style was the major problem I had with the site, whilst lots of information was listed it was all in the same font style and colour and very tightly grouped together with a plain white background making it tiring to read and bland.
I didn't like the left hand navigation bar mainly due to it being smaller than all the offers and advertisements below it and also a lot plainer with grey background and black text.
Increasing the space between the left hand side navigation bar and the sites main content would make the site feel less crowded, also adding more sections to the left-side nav bar would require users to click less to find what they are after (If a coloured font is used for a section and the sub-sections use black then this becomes clear and more functional).
- Adding colour to the navigational bar would also make it stand out more and the extra navigation sections would move the offers (Broadband ect..) further down the page making them less prominent.
- The site doesn't stretch to my full monitor resolution which is pretty bad since the content is so tightly packed.
- The images on the home page were low quality especially compared to the high quality additional images I viewed when looking at products.
- The pink box surrounding used to indicate price savings was too attention grabbing.
- Search function was slow.
Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
An additional feature a site like yours could do with is an introduction or guide section for components like the memory, you could have a small section that helps first time buyers that are unsure what these components actually do or how to fit them. A simple description of what RAM actually does and what would the ideal amount be for the customers needs. More advanced information would also be good, helping them find out what sort of RAM they might need (I'm pretty sure running a small free application like CPUZ will tell them this, but having a little link to a help section with this type info would be a huge help and may lead to customers with no knowledge of pc components browsing the section).
A Forum is also a good idea so users can discuss their difficulties and sort out delivery problems and hardware faults with both the site advisers and other site users. Maybe with a reward scheme for helpful users to boost interactivity.

It's a shame I can't access the MoreComputers site for some reason.
Opera Just gives me an error page (although it does load the favicon for some reason) and IE7 just sits there.
Can anyone from MoreComputers tell me if they are doing guessing my location by my IP? I'm connecting though a satellite link in the Altlantic (just off Nigeria, not that it makes any difference) and it it routed though Germany I believe.

The easy to find and easy to use serch function that lets you narrow down your results really well
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
The small gray text type they use is sometimes very hard to read, there is a lot of blank space around the text so the text could easly be bigger.
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be?
Use a teleportation device to deliver products as it would be fast and cheap :)
Or if you want to live in the real world a small instantly usable talk box which a admin could keep a watch over for every product so you could get a instant responce about a question you may have about a product it would make people a lot happyer about there perchase ( though may take a lot more employes )

1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
a. Items that are low on stock have a warning when you add the item to you're basket. This is a good clear point.
b. The "Choose a delivery option" dropdown menu states exactly what the delivery times are without having to look anywhere else.
c. When viewing the list of products it remembers how many "Products per page" I had set.
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
a. There is no 'All/Everything' option for "Products per page" when viewing items. The max is 30 items.
b. The right hand column has items that are also at the bottom of the page. Payment options, Website security which if removed would balance the left and right columns.
c. The phone number is hard to find. The "Contact Us" link; then the "how to contact us section" link. Which displays an FAQ which if looked through contains a contact number. The "Contact us" page should contain the office address, phone number and email addresses all in one page.
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
a. When viewing items some of the "Category" options are in bold (Memory, Processors, Printer toners etc.). Other sites have these as separate sub menus, which allows for easier viewing and finding of items.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
The categories are nicely laid out on the homepage. They themselves are also nicely organized with pictures and important information.
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
The pink. I personally don't have anything against the color, but it makes the site look less serious. I would try a blue, which tends to look more professional. The homepage also has way too much stuff on it. I saw that the payment options and security informations are two times on the same site (bottom and right). Most sites have them on the bottom and I personally like it that way. Having them again on the left just makes the page look messy and doesn't provide any more information. Oh, and no offense, but that newsletter signup field looks plain ugly. I wouldn't trust that low-res, pink guy with my E-Mail address. It simply doesn't look very convincing to sign up. The images in general look blurry to me. I think that's due to compression, which helps people with slow internet connections, but for high-speed users it looks quite ugly. A suggestion would be to maybe have two versions of the page, one for dial-up and one for high-speed. It could be a start page, which creates a cookie, so every person only sees it once.
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
Pictures, pictures, pictures. I always like seeing loads of images of products before buying them. It would really help if MoreComputers could have more pictures of their products. Preferably high-resolution ones, too. It just takes away a lot of time googleing, which would be a big plus for the site. Hireing a photographer, who has a lightbox and a DSLR camera, could get you these pics. Some online shops already offer some sort of extra pictures, but many don't.
So much criticism, I know. But I think this is exactly what you were looking for when making this giveaway. There is no use for comments that say that everything is perfect. You are trying to improve, so criticism is what you need. Good luck with morecomputers.com! :rockon2:

Just to answer the question of people not seeing our site from outside the UK - We do restrict IPs from most non UK addresses, hence people seeing blank pages.
Thanks to everyone who's entered and given their feedback - it's all good stuff.
Still time to enter - it's on until the end of August.

Well that is a real shame. I guess I'll just continue to use Scan for pretty much all my component shopping.
All orders are on a UK card and sent to a UK address. It's just me that happens to be in strange countries around the world killing time (and my wages) by online shopping.

Stock allocation at checkout. Once someone has placed an order that will be delayed due to stock shortages, ensure that the items that were in stock at time of order are allocated to the purchaser until the order is completed or cancelled. There is nothing more annoying than having 1 item out of stock and when it comes back into stock, having another item delay the order.

Some of the filtering options are a little confusing. It would be better if you had a breakdown of the main categories within the menu and then used the filtering options to help the customer find the correct product they want.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
[*]Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Feels simple enough to use. No wall of text on the first screen, which is some websites' flaw, and links seem easy enough to navigate. Use of bold words is a brave addition.
[*]Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
Laggier than other websites. Definately not down my end. Pink is not used well. It gets disorganised at times, especially at the checkout page. Stuff just looks unprofessional, like items not aligned properly, the price font too small etc. Price box in top right is too small too, with just a blank border? Doesn't feel like a unique website like Ebuyer or play.com.
"computer cabinets" should be "case" only. Search box is hit and miss - "p182" searches well but why 2 products? "antec 900" gets you nowhere.
[*]Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
Earn points for rewards. When I buy a new set of computer equipment, I tend to shop around and buy all/most from one retailer. Maybe this may stick me (but still depends on PRICE/SERVICE)

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1. The site is clean, with relevant information in the obvious places. The tag line is slick, and it's obvious what the site is selling. Good to see use of actual photos of motherboards instead of gimmicky graphics. I like that it shows the ratings based on other sites, so that it's pretty clear how good it is.
Categories wise, it covers just about everything which is nice, and the PC Pro awards do imply that it's a legitimate site.
Some people moan about this one, but i think it's good that it clearly shows, albeit twice, what forms of payment are accepted, along with clear T and C links. And i really approve of an obvious "DELIVERY" button.
2. It's very mundane. As sites go, and whether this is good or bad, it mimicks the popular internet store style. Perhaps that's because its' tried and tested. Sure it's simple, but it doesn't really stand out. There isn't very much to show me that it's any better than any other run of the mill 10 minute site design job. The deals are also a bit hidden. Good or not good, it would be nice to actually see them without having to scroll down.
It would be nice to see subcategories with a scroll over to. Like SCAN for instance, so you can easily hop to a sub product range.
The recently viewed icon is also a bit tucked away amongst the accepted payments and the hacker safe signs.
3. I completely agree with others. Too many retail sites just copy and paste manufacturer descriptions. I really appreciate sites like thinkgeek where it's obvious that the retailer has spent time messing with the product so they can give a clear description - and actually tell you what you need to know - of it.
But, my one point.
Something that bugs me a lot about many online sites is how many have verbose text searches. I would much prefer them to develop decent search engines that give relevant results. Most major retailers are nearly there, but even Amazon has problems with some searches and doesn't even suggest different spellings for failed searches. Google integration is one solution but some times it just doesn't cut it and it can look unprofessional unless the results are properly formatted so it doesn't look like you've just done a search string like "4870X2 site:www.example.org". So yes, good search facilities would be a bonus.

1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Yes. I quite enjoyed the fact that they supported different delivery companies so people could choose who they feel are more reliable in there area.
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
The pictures on the site let it down. They are bad quality :(
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
A support forum would be a great addition to the business. Would help improve customer satisfaction.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Plain colour scheme, no nonsense. Once you click a section you get a reasonable choice of filters ie price/type.
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
Cluttered homepage, too many different styles of displaying products. Have either few sections which perhaps have further selections when you hover the mouse over it or have a few deals with everthing else down the eft hand side (that side is a bit bare at the moment)
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
Be human, think what you'd have thought if you were the customer in a particular situation & offer flexibility when it comes to returns (ie testing properly, not refusing a return for some silly reason that had no influence over the fault reported)

Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
It shows on the front page you do things other people don't shout about. Heavy marketing of networking/server equipment.
Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
The pink highlighting of prices. Horrible colour.
And who drew the picture of the person making the 'OK' symbol when signing up for your newsletter? It's awful.

You need to add filters when searching for components. For example, being able to filter hard drive capacities, or only Intel/AMD CPUs

I do like the home page, its very simple, there is little clutter and is organised very well. I also liked the filters.
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
The lack of high end components especially the GFX cards.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Good information page on delivery
Clear listings on the Help page
Customer reviews
Ability to add videos
stock info regularly checked
Product descriptions/specs are detailed
Ability to check total cost inc delivery without having to register first
clear layout of the methods of payment buttons on the shopping basket page
Easy navigation on selecting categories
Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
Search tool: more advanced searching needed to whittle down results (for example to not include the product code, and only include results in title or description)
Lasck of promotions (combo offers/No special offer of the week/day.)
Text is a little small
horrible font to use on shopping webpage
Dated/messy feel to the navigation within the site.
Too much on screen at certain points
Poor images at times makes it look amateurish (most prominent are the cards you accept near the bottom of page and to the right just above it.)
Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be?
Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
Right, I'm going to list more than one thing here:
Daily/weekly offers,bundle offers.
Forum for shoppers/with support
Free delivery for order over £30 (or other amount)
Not sure if implemented but notification of each stage processed on orders (communication is key).
A product wishlist (so you can get popular items in)
A welcome bonus of some sort (% off or £5 off a x spend, etc) for first time shoppers

1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
I like the simple clean design, the category break downs are fast and well thought out.
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
Not a big fan of pink myself, I didnt like the reductions tab with 3000+ reduced items seems like its the entire stock.
3.
Id like a better returns poilcy, if id bought a graphics card and it failed after 6 weeks, i like to see a swap out system critical hardware instead of having to wait a month for it to go the the manufacturers etc.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Good general layout of the site. The tabs aren't repeated on both the top and side bars, makes it more efficient and clean. Gives me the impression that the company is may well be up to the same standard as the nicely designed website. Also the main options and what most people would need to go to are on the top. There's ben so many times I've tried to find the delivery info/prices and have had to search for a link (sometimes its at the bottom and in small print!)
I really the best sellers window and how it changes according to which section of the site you're on, it gives a quick reference to what people are buying if you have no clue what you should be buying.
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
The filtering options could be a lot better. It's nice to have the main options filtered eg. in components, options for hard drive, video cards etc. and also the brand, but i think a bit more filtering could make it easier to find things instead of resorting to going through loads and loads f pages or by using the search engine. So for instances, in hard drives you could have filter options for the interface of the drive, the speed and also the size. either a style like the ones on dabs.com or scan.co.uk would be better in my opinion, with scan's probably being marginally better.
Also i think there's too much going on in the sides of the website. I think the advertising of offers could maybe be put into the 'reductions' section and call it the 'offers' or 'deals' sections. As i think i at the moment it distracts my attention from the middle of the page, its more of an annoyance issue more than anything.
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
Good communication and making it seem like we're dealing with real people instead of an automated process so we feel more valued and cared for as customers. This I think is really important, as I'd rather buy things at a place where I trust that if I have any issues I'll get a genuine person on the other end who seems like they're willing to help instead of someone who's going through a checklist and doesn't think outside the box. This isn't just confined to problems but also other aspects, like for instances scan have options where you can suggested a product and if people are interested in it then scan will look at the possibility of getting it in stock, and also if you've found a good price elsewhere you can tell them and they'll get back to you with a better offer (hopefully!) or if you're buying a lot they can offer you a price for the bundle. It's little things like this that makes it seem like they value us as customers and go beyond what other companies are willing to do to a) keep the customers happy and b) value our opinions and try and make themselves better for us and themselves.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1. I liked the relatively clean layout, while still providing good pictures of the product, allowing user reviews and the live stock check, very useful!
2.I thought the site was very good, I didn't like the advertising down the sides as I didn't think it really fitted, were it done in a slightly different style it might.
3. I'd like actual product photos, taken by the staff, some websites have detailed unboxed photos of the product or a video, enabling you to get a better idea of what you are buying.
-
Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
More Computers has a good range of products and from what I can see reasonable prices, (I will be bookmarking) The site is easy to navigate and has good features such as Order Tracking and the option to pay with Paypal and Google Checkout. Fantastic
I would however like to see different ways of filtering products, such as motherboards by processor socket types, and RAM by speed or size, without having to do a title (name) search, I like to filter products and then order by ascending price when I purchase.
If I could change one thing it would certainly be more category strings attached to each product to filter them by useful and important differences in specifications rather than brand, which I find to be less important when purchasing hardware.
James
p.s
I like the idea of providing Motherboard, CPU, and RAM combo's for a slightly discounted price. But mainly are good for consumer that are unsure of what specifications will mesh, i.e DDR 1/2/3, AMD,Intel and differing sockets . . . and so on . .

Fantastic gaming section with great appeal to the PC gaming home builder
Need a better category drill-down, e.g. components/motherboards//socket775/matx
Allow shipping to an alternative address for first time buyers, great way to draw in new customers.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Site navigation is very good, probably the best of any site ive used, all categories neatly arranged in the middle of the screen with other grouping options right below, excellent. When i come to a computer retailer website, i know what im looking for so to have the navigation this way is really useful, no wasted loading, no jumping to other pages to narrow down selection.
Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
Right hand side of page is wasted for me, i know awards and user opinion/reviews are a big plus to an online retailer as it shows, your doing things right, and are not a fly by night operation, but i think most of the right hand side could be gathered under one image link that takes the user to a page giving more details about awards and customer reviews etc.
Same with payment options, again for me they dont matter really, if i want to buy something from your site and you didnt accept Credit card for example, id use debit, if no debit id use paypal, id expect any online site to support at least one of these types, so having them on the right of every page is wasted space in my eyes. and could be incorporated into one of you help pages.
Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
Having never had a customer service issue with yourselves you may already do this, you may not. Plus.net (ISP) have an excellent customer services online portal, that works superbly for non urgent problems and enquiries, you send a message via an online form, and they reply to you via the online portal when a reply has been posted, your emailled to let you know a reply is there, and you can log in and reply again if you need to. I think it works well on both sides, the customer is able to view past and current conversation via the online portal, and i imagine it much easier to manage from plus.net side of things, as all enquiries are through the one portal, no email flying around from different people, different address, account information having to be looked up etc etc etc.
I think this would work nicely for stock enquiries and technical questions about items pre and post order.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
I like the tabs that allow you to quickly navigate around the site, especially the delivery and tracking option. The clarity is appreciated rather than going through the whole buying proceedure and then getting the information.
Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
The layout isn't as user friendly as it could be. The segments are not seperated by much in terms of could or boxes and this leaves it looking a bit muddled.
The options the refine searches isnt very powerful either, Scan has great options regarding this, you can take it to many different levels.
Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
I dont know how quickly the web site is updated regarding stock levels, but if this was real time that would be great. I've ordered things in the past which I've had to wait longer for as when I ordered it it stated it was in stock but in reality it wasn't! That is frustrating, luckily I've never had to order things urgently.
let me win!

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
The feature i liked best on the more computers website was the links to the customer ratings. I had not heard of the company before but after seeing such strong customer feedback it would immediately reassure me that this was a safe company to use.
Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
The special offers would not be immediately obvious to someone that isn't used to shopping online. I think you should have a box somewhere that points people towards them.
Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
I would like to see you stop using city link as they aren't the best in my area, however this is purely a personal thing that i would not expect you to do! I am always very cautious of using companies that use them due to past troubles.

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
One thing that stood out was how high stocks were. This reduces the tedium of shopping as you dont have to find an alternative if the product you had in mind was out of stock. I faced this issue a number of times with other etailers and thus the only reason i bought was because i needed the parts urgently, otherwise i would have shopped elsewhere. The prices are also very reasonable.
Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
In the case of GFX Cards (my personal most common purchase), there was a lack of mainstream and high end cards. Most annoyingly, i was unable to jump to specific chipsets.
Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
It would be nice to have a daily offer system like on SCAN or better yet, some pre-configured systems which the user can tweak that sell less than counterparts from major manufacturers such as Dell.
Otherwise, it looks fine (save for the pink...)
-
Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Nice selection of equipment with detailed descriptions of the Products.
The products I looked for I found quickly and easily.
Searching by brand and then by catagory is also a nice idea. But I'd also like to be able to search by product specification/features. eg, Select Laptop then search by the amount of ram or cpu speed, or after selecting WIFI Router be able to narrow it down by speed or number of RJ45 connectors.
---------------------------
Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
I didn't like the pink used in the colour scheme, reminds me of T-Mobile. I also thought the site seemed crowded and a little chaotic in places, I think this was because the right hand bar has too much information, It would be better if it were reserved for popular or recommended items. The rest of the information could be put at the bottom of the page, I don't really worry about what awards or ratings a website has.
---------------------------
Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
I didn't see it on your site but some computer websites have a compatibility checker, so if I buy a CPU and Motherboard it will advise me if the are incompatible. You could also go one step further by suggesting components which would work well with what the customer is buying. So if I buy a AMD 790FX Mobo and a Phenom 9950 and have selected 800Mhz DDR2 ram you could display 'This product is also compatible with 1066Mhz DDR2 Ram, would you like to change your selection'

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
The navigation and search feature made it very easy to quickly find specific products. Choose a category > choose a sub-category > choose a brand - nice.
I'm also a huge fan of the 'Delivery' tab, it's extremely rare to come by a site these days that's so open. Even the largest of e-tailers make the customer wait until the last stages of ordering until they finally drop the cost of delivery bomb-shell. Props to you MoreComputers.
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
The website can look a little over-crowded and 'busy' at times due to small font sizes and large borders on either side of the content (viewing at 1680x1050). The general look of the site would improve dramatically if it could make full-screen use out of various resolutions.
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
Communication, without a doubt. I find many people shy away from purchasing online as it removes the physicalities of shopping. They feel they're dealing with a faceless organisation, some text and images on a screen. Regular, friendly communication throughout the buying process and any problems that may arise gives a company a face, a positive persona. If MoreComputers can (or already have) earn(ed) a reputation for great communication, come 2023 they'll be celebrating doing business for 30 years.
In terms of adopting something other retailers do, a regularly updating (daily or weekly) offer / bundle scheme on a selection of products would be popular, everyone likes saving money!

1. I like the layout and design of the page, it looks clean and simple to navigate
2. I did not like the fact that i was getting 404 page not found errors whilest navigating
3. I would love to see a system configurator whereby when purchasing a custom system from components the search will filter out incompatible items for you. e.g. if you select a socket 774 motherboard then the site will only show you appropriate CPU's, RAM etc.

A pet peeve on computing sites is the lack of options in sub categories. For example, the addition of categories such as chipset, cpu, memory technology to name just a few

Re: HEXUS.winners - win4FREE competitions :: win £550 of Logitech kit from MoreComput
1. Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
I liked the pink and black colour scheme because it gives the website a strong identity and helps it to stand out against other similar websites. The website works for someone who is looking for a certain product from a certain company and I managed to find a product I was looking for relatively quickly. Once you spend some time on the website it becomes easy to navigate and the menu system reminds me of another retailer, so I was used to finding my way around.
2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
I think the homepage needs to be streamlined because the layout looks cluttered and cramped when you first arrive. The category section is duplicated (do I use the column on the left or the section in the middle for gaming) and I just think you just need a single point of navigation for a product. The small pictures for the product categories are also unnecessary - they are difficult to see and just add to the confusion in navigating the homepage. I also think the tab bar could contain more than just six tabs and could be used more effectively to communicate information instead of crowding the main page.
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
I'm always loyal to online retailers who offer good customer service and communicate with me the status of my order. Retailers who treat me poorly will loose my custom and I would never recommend them to friends or colleagues. I'm not always looking for the cheapest price on a product, I just want my order to be handled efficiently and delivered as promised.

2. Was there anything you really didn't like about the MoreComputers.com site?
The site doesnt expand to full widescreen (white margins on the side).
Lack of filters for products eg when i look at memory; it gives me the full list of every type of memory you have (even printer memory, lol), this should be filter into ddr2 6400 etc...
3. Finally, if there was one thing any retailer could do to solve a problem you have with online shopping, what would it be? Or, if you prefer, just tell us something another retailer does that you'd like to see MoreComputers.com do.
Free delivery.

Was there anything you particularly liked about the MoreComputers.com site?
Good clean layout, search function actually works and can find the stuff you want.
Customer reviews are a great idea and really add to the site.

Font used isn't fantasticly pretty, pink boxes with reductions etc are quite hard to read.

Weekly or daily offers, this is by far my favourite thing for an online retailer to have.
Impulse buys generally happen more often if there's a good deal!

Congratulations PeterStoba, I'll send your prize as soon as the Hexus guys send me your details.
Maybe I'll be able to get in my office when all this Logitech stuff is shifted.
and a big thank you to everyone who entered and gave us so much feedback - I predict a busy development team over the next few weeks
