Wouldn't upgrade my graphics, the extra resolution will help productivity massively and I would just lock to 1080p for gaming with will scale perfectly.

Since virtually any card will handle non-gaming 4K perfectly well, I'd happily take this monitor and shift back down to 1080p gaming, given that every pixel at 1080p will fit neatly into every cluster of 4 pixels at 4K.
