Of course, but it sounds like a slightly insane default setup! Ok, this probably isn't the type of device your "average" person would buy, but I'm sure there are more than a few people who will buy these and just accept the default settings, putting potentially a huge amount of data at risk.

I know people should have backups and RAID != backup, but putting 16TB of data at risk on a 4 disk raid0 just doesn't bear thinking about!

Looks like a very positive review - good performance, low noise and power usage, good price. Only slight weakness seems to be the OS, which I think is a Debian Linux variant, and even then nothing too damning.
