Re: Day 4: Win a Cooler Master upgrade bundle
Cool your Masters at Hexus :)
Re: Day 4: Win a Cooler Master upgrade bundle
Is it a little pedantic to point out that 'PSU' is an initialism, not an acronym? :vacant:
Thanks for the competitions Hexus!
Re: Day 4: Win a Cooler Master upgrade bundle
Thanks for the nice giveaways, Hexus.
Won't mind winning that PSU, but don't need the case and cooler, so not entering.

Isn't an initialism a type of acronym?

Acronyms you pronounce like words, initialisms you just pronounce the individual letters. Like NASA vs PSU. But yeah the acronym NASA I guess is just an initialism if you called it 'N' 'A' 'S' 'A'.
Anyway, I don't really mind, especially when someone if offering free things :)

Understood, I just was wondering if initialisms come under the umbrella of acronyms.
Decided to Google it and of course, the umbrella terms I want here is abbreviations. Initialisms are a sub-division of abbreviations not of acronyms.
There's my new thing learned for the day!

Re: Day 4: Win a Cooler Master upgrade bundle
I found the question difficult - is an ‘initialism’ the same as ‘initials’ or ‘acronym’?
If that’s the case, it might be better to use the correct word rather than a made up one! :)
Re: Day 4: Win a Cooler Master upgrade bundle
That bundle would come in handy, my seidon 240l is making noises and I also need a wider pc case :D

If the first letter of each word makes up another word, e.g. Action on Smoking and Health (ASH), it's an acronym. If it doesn't make a pronounceable word, like PSU, it's an initialism :)
