I can do :) I am just waiting for my pre-heater to arrive, I order a lot of stuff from China mainly because the stuff you buy in the UK is normally from China anyway but if you cut out the middle man you can make a good saving. Downside is it takes a little while for stuff to arrive but certainly happy to do it for you.

Sweet, thanks. Just give me a shout then when you're ready and I'll post the bits to you.

This device looks quite interesting for small repairs: http://www.miniware.com.cn/product/m...ate-preheater/
I have one of Miniware's USB soldering irons which is great, and the fact it's USB powered means you can power it from a USB power bank for mobile work.

Just to update, I've not forgotten but I can't find the thing! If it turns up, or if I find anything else along those lines, I'll post back.

Re: Mobile Phones Broken/Spares & Repair Etc
Awesome cheers mate :)
For anyone coming to this thread, I now have or will have enough stuff to be getting on with so won't require anymore phones and things. Thank you to everyone who has made a comment or sent something :)
Re: Mobile Phones Broken/Spares & Repair Etc
That's a nice setup. I do the odd port or battery but stay well away from chips. I usually find if I'm careful I can make even fine work, work after a few attempts (And continuity tests). Wish I had the microscope though would make some of these jobs easier...
Re: Mobile Phones Broken/Spares & Repair Etc
Interesting reading just catching up on this.... Ive recently done a repair or two on a Denon DHT soundbar where the design is duff. 6v caps on a 25v rail, they pop. I had to change 8 of the little swine.... Never done such fiddly soldering in my life. I envy your coming skills Jon :)
Re: Mobile Phones Broken/Spares & Repair Etc
The sizes the resistors etc go down to is so ridiculously small. I recently did the smallest size available and even with a microscope it is seriously fiddly work, without one I would dare say near on impossible. For the most part things that go wrong on phones are generally not the smallest sized components thankfully. I have now done several mobile phone board repairs and chip replacements and all but a couple have been successful. Sometimes its just the luck of the draw, depending on previous condition, whether there is other damage etc but my course is in July for the main part of what I am doing. But as with everything at the moment, need to see what the score is coming the end of June.
For the most part its actually quite fun, looking into a microscope is like looking into another world, takes you away from everyday life so I enjoy it :)
I know the caps you mean, at least you managed to get them soldered!
