    Question Date style vegetarian meal?

    Hey,

Right, I was hoping if the wonderful world of Hexus could help here. I'm currently trying to date a girl who's vegetarian, and am thinking of inviting her round for a meal. Here I have a problem, I only know meals with meat in. I'm not a bad cook so any ideas can be suitably difficult / complex, though obviously the more you can prepare beforehand the better... any ideas would be great guys! Recipies even better...

    cheers!

Use the meat and claim it's Quorn. I assume you're only after a shag anyway, because the veggie's are warped.

You lot are a cynical bunch aren't ya! Quorn sounds like the most obvious option so far then, thanks. And TeePee - I'm more after a relationship. Cooking is a bit too much effort for anything less in my books... heh.

Save yourself a world of pain and look elsewhere. Otherwise you'll have to say goodbye to those summer barbeques. No more steak. You'll have to get used to evening meals with no flavour, or dirty looks and no hanky panky when you chow down on a slab of cow.

Plus veggies are wierd people. How can you deny yourself flesh? It's unnatural.

My wife and I are both Vegetarians.

It may be hard being in a relationship with someone who isn't a vegetarian... but if you two are okay with that, then continue! Otherwise, if I were you, I would consider that you become a vegetarian too, you'll feel much healthier if you eat properly (it's not hard, we don't eat soya or any crap like that... Eggs, milk, yoghurt, bread, cheese, pasta, cereal, beans, potatoes, etc...)

    Like someone mentioned, Italian...

Or even French. The French restaraunts offer really good Mushroom soup which tastes so good, and they have nice vegetable dishes... but either one is nice.

Get a bottle of red wine

I actually quite like the vege pizzas at pizza hut. They are the same as the chicken one's but with tomato in its place.

And anyway, if she really loves you (later on.. hopefully she's not a psycho.. well any more than a normal vege.. like a vegan..) she will respect your dietary requirement of.. protein. She can get hers from the salt water of life

Of course, true love knows no bounds.

But as far as your protein comment!

I work out regularly and my brother-in-law is a nutritionist and fitness instructor, and I've talked to him about what I eat and I get more than enough protein daily. (With plenty of water/juice inbetween, whenever convenient)

Breakfast: Two eggs + two slices of brown bread + glass of milk = ~25g protein

Lunch: Two slices of brown bread with some garlic cheese spread and a few slices of cheese, tomatoes and lettauce... and banana / orange / (any fruit, really) = ~17g at least.

Dinner: Milk if you want more protein, but it's not necessary, Pasta, potatoes, beans, another ~15-30g depending on your meal.

If you take multivitamins, you're covered on iron and all of the other essentials... I take Holland & Barrett's "ABC Plus"... 50g of protein a day is the recommended amount, and if you want more, you can easily get more by adding cheese to your breakfast, dinner... by having yoghurt as a snack (extra 5-10g depending on your serving)... and also if you have fruit&nuts as a snack... etc...

It's easy for me to get over 50 daily without even trying. I have little fat on my body and my muscles are quite defined and strong, and I only work out once a week at home (push-ups, dumb-bell)... I'm going to start going to the gym in january, and work out once a week there and be even more healthy...

It's still worth an a healthy debate with her if she hasn't done her research. As a man and a pig you owe it to yourself
