So, just deviating back to the OP...

Vegetarian lasagne always goes down a treat - use spinach, pesto and pine nuts instead of the meaty layer, or if you don't like that, use quorn mince. There's always mousakka (sp?) too

    Good choice.

Careful with the pine nuts, some people are extremely allergic.

How about mushroom and courgette lasgne, also fantastic. Sounds like an odd combination but its really nice.

    Or...

Roast med veg... peppers, onions, courgettes, mushrooms, garlic with a drizzle of olive oil and some pepper cooked for about 30-40min. this is good because it can be served with meat or veg alternative and potatoes.

Moussaka is also good; quorn instead of lamb and a touch of mint.

    Re: Date style vegetarian meal?

As a veggie I really don't like meat-substitute stuff. Quorn is the best of the bunch, though there's enough great veggie food without needing it really.

    Re: Date style vegetarian meal?

Heh, I like this place more and more. The thread managed to make me 'lol' and has also been informative... I'll check out those suggestions guys. Cheers!

As for dating a vegetarian - I was going to see how it went. I like the taste of meat too much to not have it, but we'll see how that goes down when (or if... seeing as I've not had the chance to ask her round for the afforementioned meal yet) it gets mentioned.

Now - off to cook some steak!

In all seriousness with regard to dating a vegie. Live and let live, as long as you are both alright with it then who is actually going to care.

Oh and my mums favourite saying, eat to live.. don't live to eat. That said the woman has no taste buds..

    Actually it's very pleasant.

Hunting is an extreme thrill, and challenge. It's a hell of a rush, and that's coming from a pilot with a penchant for aerobatics. The meat tastes better from knowing that you shot it yourself. Besides, killing an animal and not eating it is rude.

If you're ever in the Pacific Northwest, let me know and I'll take you hunting. After all, you can't pass judgement until you've tried it, can you?

    Re: Date style vegetarian meal?

    How about this:

    olive oil plenty be generous
    lots ot baby plum tomatoes
    fresh basil
    2 cloves garlic crushed
    2 birds eye chillies
    1/2 corguette chopped

cook it all up in a shallow frying pan until tomatoes and corgeuettes are soft
    add salt to taste

serve with fresh taglitelle or spaghetti and lots of fresh grated parmesan

a leafy salad with avacado, tomato, cucmber, spring onion, mayonnaise, lemon and balsamic vinegar is lovely on the side.

all in all takes around 20 mins to make and is delicious
