I haven't used pasts sauce in years.
I normally just boil up some filled pasta with a Knorr seasoning cube (or similar).
Skin a tomato or two, chop finely and add that to the cooked and drained pasta. Then add some mixed herbs, garlic and olive oil. Sometimes I'll add some chopped olives to that as well.
Quick, simple and tasty.
I like the Lloyd Grossman ones :)
Best pasta sauce: curry sauce!
Better on chips (imo)
better on chips?
Easy to make your own tbh - As Funkstar says, or lightly fry an onion and a clove of garlic (optional), add a can of economy chopped tomatoes, some tomato paste, oregano, basil or mixed herbs, seasoning and let it simmer to reduce it a bit. You can add mushrooms and or olives if you prefer. If you like it a bit thicker you can either add some flour to the lightly fried onions and then add the tomatoes as if you were making a roux, or cheat and add a bit of corn flour mixed with water. :)
Any of the commercial ones will do the job though, they all contain much the same stuff.
For convenience, those Grossman ones aren't bad.
Grossmans OK.
The Jamie Oliver ones are Ok too.
the chilli tomato & lemon (or something similar) is actually very nice :D
tonight because im having a drinky lazy weekend i am having a chicken tonight mushroom sauce with extra mushrooms. i am hoping it will tast like the insides from a greggs chicken&mushroom pasty :)
Dolmio are good
Grossman have good variety although they are average
Asda branded ones are quite good (3 for £2 )
Erk.. dolmio ones are horrible.
Make your own, they're cheaper, and 100 times nicer.
This is a recipe I got from an Italian chef:
Olive oil, garlic, chopped chillies (I take the seeds out), tinned tomatoes, herbs (such as oregano or basil), and simple seasoning (salt and pepper).
Typical pasta tomato sauce but with a bit of a bite from the chilli.
i tend to just have the tesco branded ones, or make my own with chopped tomatoes etc. i try not to have pasta as a main dinner though, i try to have half the amount of pasta and the rest chicken. lots of pasta in the evening is normally bad.
