    Aussies fuming over 'frozen' LG digitals TVs

    Pity poor Australian owners of certain LG LCD and plasma tellies - their big flat screens have begun freezing up during certain digital broadcasts from TV station the Nine Network.
    [The Register]

    Here's Steve's Golden Rule of data receivers: Always, ALWAYS presume that the data you've received is bad... really really bad. Now, do your best to find the good bits, and run with them. Recover the bits you can from the bad parts, and the unrecoverable bits should be dropped as gracefully as possible.

    Aforelinked articles says LG has "engineers monitoring Nine Network transmissions to determine whether the problem lies in the way the channel encodes its programming and ancillary interactive components, or it's a result of a glitch in LG's decoding and rendering software."

    Doesn't really matter if Nine's doing it a bit wonky... at worst the LG TV should drop frames or artifact... shouldn't lock up.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    I can't see that the prob lies with Nine networks transmission, at the end of the day, if I've got 2 tellys and one plays NN perfectly and one doesn't, then it's the latters fault.

    Unless other manus (Samsung, sony, et al) tv's are having the same probs with NN, then LG should sort out their 'bad' tvs.
