If it has, then the new owner might actually start giving correct evaluations rather than just good reviews for who pays the most money.

The Inq has updated its story.

The publisher of THG is being sold. The deal closes in a month. No more details as of yet.

I used to read all the articles on THG at one point. Then I just noticed the declining quality of their work and stopped. Havent been back for a good few years now.

I still usually check THG every day, but not after I've checked (in order of preference) The Inq, The Register, [H]ardOCP and some other hardware website I can't think of the name of right now

I have to say though - saying that they charge for good reviews is a pretty serious accusation. Not saying it's correct or incorrect, but if it's true then the fact should be publicised more, and if it's false, they should put out a massive PR saying that's the case!

it's become kinda crappy, only use it so compare grpahics cards, cpu's or hard drives. plus if you read on their forums, there are lots of posts questioning THG and asking "are they bias?"

Yes, I used to be an avid fan but have not been in for a while, think the last article I looked at was the o/c of the 805.

They have very good ideas for articles. Then it goes a bit downhill. Sometimes they make some odd decisions when choosing setups for comparisons, but everyone's guilty of that from time to time. What gets me is that they can present a perfectly reasonable article, show lots of results, but then 9 times out of 10 they jump to a conclusion that doesn't bear any relation at all to the results they've just posted.

Most recent example of that for me was the PCIe speed article - they show lots of results that clearly demonstrate that in most cases you only need PCIe x8, and even going to x4 doesn't have much of a drop.. then they state in the conclusion that x16 is a must have?! It seems about one article a week jumps to a similarly bizarre conclusion.

I quite like some of the stuff on there. Anyone see the crazy pc case mods articles recently??

I think its a bit unfair to say they base reviews on who pays most, from what I have seen most of the reviews have been pretty balanced and unbiased.

I also like the fact its always up to date and they're publishing new stuff all the time. Shame if that all changes now its been sold.
